I know with my Amex they tell me it’s paid sometimes a few days before it even shows greyed out on the transaction feed. The transaction feed can show direct debits due out in 2 business days time as well.

Sometimes my Amex and EE both stated paid days before it comes out of my account so it might just be that.
With Amex I even get the spend available to use, which can be dangerous! The direct debit follows.

Yeah don’t worry, and because you did a CASS if anything does fudge up you’ll covered by the Guarantee

Let me tell you something and this is especially true if the supplier uses a third party to collect the direct debit. This happens to the company I work for.
The direct debit amount is sent to the 3rd Party.
On the due date the 3rd party pays the amount.
Later, if the payment doesn’t go through the 3rd party then deducts the amount and only then does the supplier know its failed.

Monzo got back to me last night and a specialist said it’s actually 100% not even being paid to them and that the direct debit is set up but they haven’t asked for the money. Debating whether to switch my mobile phone insurance to someone more reliable.

Good to hear it isn’t Monzo at fault. Considering the info given, it’s becoming more apparent the merchant could be the issue - or timing. Is your insurance up for renewal or is it a 10-month or 11-month payment plan?
It sounds like they have the correct bank details (now, post-CASS) but maybe they took the last expected payment pre-CASS and the next one will be paid from you Monzo account?

I was thinking the same but they said it was taken 2 days ago on 23rd which would have been from Monzo as been full Monzo since the 19th so it’s just odd. I’m not sure the plan length think it’s 11 months just worrying they said they got the payment 23rd when it should have been the 14th anyway then for the bank to say it’s 100% not been taken I just don’t know what the insurance company are trying to do if anything but again nothing showing and no money taken today.
