Ahh thanks for the tip. Iâve never had problems with Google Pay so when it wasnât activating with the card places on the back of the phone I gave up and assumed it was a bug with joint accounts being in labs. I actually think the card activation process could be improved somewhat.

Iâve just noticed that the transaction history shows you whose card the transaction went through on. Really neat feature - would save me the embarrassment of falsely accusing my other half of spending all our money

Just tried to pay my friends (all Monzo) back for some drinks, I can pay them individually but not to their joint account, ie itâs not showing up in my payee list or in nearby friends.
Shared pots is sorely needed for this purpose.
In this example, I presume youâd want a shared pot with simply âanyone on Monzoâ eg, a group of friends?
Rather than just a shared pot between 2 joint account holders?
Joint accounts donât show on pay monzo contacts yet but hopefully soon!
They said in the launch that this isnât available yet, should be included at a later date though

Yeah so it just so happens that I was out with 3 friends, all of which, were on monzo yay!! In this instance a shared pots could act like a table tab.

I raised the point here because when I went to pay back my friends they ask if I could pay into the joint account.
I feel like this could be an opportunity for the improved bill splitting to be used. Monzo already has the proximity functionality for payments built. So if you could send requests to your friends using that too, the payments could simply join to the transaction.
In fact Zander mentioned a feature that theyâre building that would be perfect for this in his Q & A -

Itâs a shame they didnât pick another color from their âMâ logo! Say like the bluey green color. Then later down the line go with yellow for credit card (maybe) and then the other color for some other account type. It would make the âMâ logo better integrated. At the moment itâs just a random bunch of colors

Is there a way to turn on coin jar for joint accounts. Alternatively, can I do it via ifttt?

Iâm not too keen on my contacts showing up by default when trying to pay someone, maybe have a âJointâ shared payee list and then have the option to show âMyâ contacts?
I also think the settings screens are far too complex and confusing and half the time I donât know if Iâm editing settings for my account or the joint account. Really needs some work there

- Weâve had some questions about what happens in the event of one partner passing away.
- Weâre working on having a clear process for when this happens.
- The account swapper still needs improvement.
- We have some ideas for other ways of showing this.
- Lots of feedback in this thread about activating cards not being clear.
- Working on improving this. Partly just an issue of updating the info that comes with the cards.

I am shocked to see there is no process in place for this before it goes to what you call âlabsâ
It would cause unnecessary stress to a bereaved human to learn this.
One suggestion:
on the move money screen it would be useful to see the balance on your personal account when âadding to jointâ and the balance on the joint when selecting âwithdrawing from jointâ

Can anyone already using joint accounts advise on how easy it is to migrate a direct debit set up on an individual Monzo account to a joint Monzo account
You get a new account number and sort code for the joint account that you can use?
