I’m due paid on the 13th July and would be able to get it early on the 12tg so just wondering would it show up early on the 11th instead
There is no July bank holiday in the UK this year - the next ones are 7th August in Scotland and 28th August elsewhere in the UK.

Everyone forgets poor old NI. They do indeed have a BH on 12 July. Not sure if Monzo calendars also forget NI though. I’d expect Monzo to operate around E&W Bank Hols.

I’ve wondered if it’s even up to Monzo to govern which bank holidays mean you get paid earlier or not.
I’ve always thought the employer’s bank just starts the BACS process the working day before, so in Ireland, if you’re due on the bank holiday, it should instead proc the working day before, and be claimable the day before that at 4pm.

You might be right, but in this instance OP gets paid on 13th so Monzo would just make it available on 12th at 4pm if they don’t consider the 12th a BH; whereas if it was an E&W BH it would be 11th instead, no?

If the bank holiday is the 12th, and pay day is the 13th, I suspect the get paid early thing would just proc on the 12th as normal. And I think it would be the same if we were dealing with an English bank holiday too.

And now I’m not sure I understand how things work at all. I think you’re right though but I haven’t used Get Paid Early like ever.

Damn - I should’ve looked in my iOS calendar where it says Battle of the Boyne.
No mention of it on the uk.gov bank holiday calendar.

Even BACS don’t give much clarity on the NI BHs - I think it will depend on what your payment processor follows.
As far as I know, Monzo will follow England and Wales bank hols for it’s processing, but depends on what provider your employer will link to.

Banks are mostly based in England so operate to English bank holidays. They don’t take account of specific NI, Scotland or Wales holidays. Except presumably for the relatively few banks based in NI or Scotland (are there any based in Wales?).
I’m a bit sad that we are slowly drifting back down to 8 BH’s per year, from a high of 10 in 2022.

Paid early accounts for bank holidays in England though. If I’m paid on the Tuesday and the Monday is a bank holiday I can get the money on the Friday.
Unless I’m completely misremembering.
And I could be.

Plus point of being in NI… we got 13 in 2022 and 2023 but back to our usual 12 in 2024.
