I’m holding out for the pro Max but now I’m not sure. The camera is a bit better isn’t it on this one? I’m a bit worried about the size now though currently have Xs Max and that’s fine

It’s a shame they are different, should just be screen size imo

It’s a good comparison. My feeling is the battery life on these phones will look good at launch, because 5g is rare and theres little that can really push the processor. But in a couple of years that smaller battery is going to be a problem.

Maybe by then we ll have magsafe battery pack cases or something though.

Alternatively, if Mophie update their current Powerstation to have passthrough Magsafe, that would work well, especially as you’d be able to charge the Powerstation at the same time as your iPhone with the Magsafe charger. Then all you’d need is a Magsafe adaptor that connects to your Apple Watch and you’re kinda set.

Goooot itttttttt!! :sunglasses:

Really happy with blue, gold is nicer than I expected just a bit let down by the sides.

Interesting test. Hope he does it again with the mini and 5g turned on.

The 5G speed is ridiculous. I think this a genuine game changer for the home broadband industry.

My current home broadband, which is fibre to the premises, maxes at 70mbps!

There is 0 chance FTTP gives you 70.

You probably have FTTC so fiber only to the cabinet then old copper to your house.

I suffer the same fate and only get 25.

What’s the upload and the data cap?

Unless the upload speed is also good and there is no data cap, I fail to see how mobile 5G is a game changer. 4G/LTE is already more than good enough speed-wise (I remember getting 150Mbps on 4G in Central London), the problem is the data cap that prevents people from enjoying it like they would use a proper, unlimited network connection.

I get pretty strong 5g signal inside, so it does exist in some places!

Is that new thing, the Monthly plan? I thought it was only ever a one off purchase. That’s handy if so!

Key word I, meanwhile where I live gets max 30mbps Openreach FTTC, No Virgin, No altnet and the 4G speed is about the same.

If 5G can even provide 100mbps here it would literally be life-changing for our household. We could download during the day on Xbox and more then one person could video chat at once.

I’m hoping (praying) 5G will help as BT won’t be bothering with our 15K + town household for years. So yes 5G will be a benefit to a lot of people.

I haven’t tried connecting to 5G, because I don’t think I have a 5G signal in the house on O2 in this part of north Kent, might be wrong, but I’m on a 200mb line in the House, and the phone fizzes along on that

Went for screen protector in store, I scratched the life out of my last phone during lockdown, and the Belkin protectors are good, it also gives me a sense of place on the phone.

Got the 12, its a thing of beauty.

Also Apple did a great job of making it feel super safe at Bluewater, heavily policed socially distanced queues, temp checks at the door, loads of space in the store. top experience.

It might well be the case that those who would benefit from it the most will be the last to get it.

Granted, this is outside, but if you can get anywhere near this indoors in the near future and with low enough latency, I think terrestrial internet may not even be an option worth thinking about soon enough for residential.

EE already offer a true unlimited plan on 5G for a reasonable cost so expect more to follow.

But this would only work on an uncapped plan? Otherwise you’ll quickly go through the typical mobile data cap with household usage especially when it comes to download Xbox games.

I agree that 5G for residential broadband can be a game-changer, but on mobile it feels like a gimmick for the most part.

And then there was the test that proves 5G is still in its infancy, in the office 20mb down on 5G, 40mb down on 4G.

The office I’m in is kind of worst case scenario for 5G, loads of exposed metal to bounce a signal around so I’m kinda surprised you even get a signal so not that bad really.

If you click monthly payments on the apple store app you can pay monthly. If you click pay outright you pay outright.
