They used to allow you to track items from China to the syncreon UK warehouses, but now they only give you a tracking number when it leaves the warehouse - which will be at some point today.
The order lookup page on Apple is severely goosed. I can’t check on mine.
I’ve tried searching but can’t find anyone chatting about, how do the Monzo Premium metal cards deal with the MagSafe accessories (especially the wallets)? Will it ruin the card? Will we actually be able to get it off?
That’s actually a good question and has started to make me ponder how annoying having something constantly magnetised in your pocket might be?
Third parties could probably solve this though, with softer materials at the point of connection, or reinforced cases. Might just be best to wait to see what comes out over time, there’s always going to be a risk for early adopters!
People have broken phones they don’t even have yet?
I always look forward to the drop tests. Something very satisfying about seeing iPhones being smashed up. But, the iPhone 11 was really quiet sturdy according to those, so I’d be surprised if the 12 was fragile, and I haven’t seen any reliable looking drop tests yet.
I always use screen protectors for the first two or three years of a phone. After that I’m less bothered but otherwise they just gather too many over the years.
Although actually my samsung only has one scratch after over a year with no protector.
Just got the notification to say it’s ready to be picked up tomorrow
Not sure if you settled on a provider as I’ve not read that far down yet, however, if you want one throwing into the mix, I’m with BTMobile and their sim only plans are good value and since BT own EE, you also get full coverage as you would on EE proper.
Alternatively, if you have Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade already, EE’s Full Works plan seems like a good value if you’re paying for those services separately as they knock £20pm off the £41pm unlimited data plan.
Yup! But mine is just a normal collect at store order at this stage, so that might be why.
Never got an iPhone from store at launch. At least with corona they won’t be cheering everyone
I’ve seen them clapping and cheering someone in the Oxford St store as they opened the doors once, can’t remember what that was for.
Got my notification earlier, going later in the day so shouldn’t have too much drama.
That being said, anyone traded in their old iPhone when getting a new phone at Apple, how does it work, what do I need to take with me? Do I need to give them all my accessories and the box?
I’ve never done it but all you need is the device. You can keep any accessories/box etc.
Does anyone have some good insurance recommendations? Definitely considering Monzo, but hoping to find someone sub-£10 a month, with a good track record.
Having always insisted I didn’t need to insure my phone as I’m quite careful, I had my iPhone Xs stolen about a week after I bought it… so going to make sure I find a policy with loss and theft this time around.
The Post Office seems to have a good insurance offering for between £10 and £15 per month for an iPhone 12 Pro and you can use AppleCare services for repairs.
I wouldn’t recommend using the insurance bundled with Premium for the reasons listed in the Monzo Premium thread.
Thanks, that looks like a good option.
Mine’s on a van for delivery. Annoyingly it’s coming by DHL who don’t appear to give a time window, so I’m going to be in a @Venomx style courier panic all day.
Edit: oh I’ve just got a window after all. 11am to 12pm, meaning I can fanny about with it on my lunch break.
Mines with DPD, just waiting for a one hour time slot.
Glad you have a time window, and hope the phone is good
