[iOS] iOS 13 Beta 1 Hang

Do Monzo test immediately on devloper releases? I assume so, but maybe not.

Until there’s a public beta there’s absolutely no expectation that they would look to fix it. Apple’s made it as apparent as can be that the current beta is intended for Developers to run on devices that are if possible dedicated to development and/or the beta and stressed that it isn’t suitable for devices that would be used day-to-day more broadly.

Apple are warning people away from installing this beta on their phones, and I suspect it’s more luck then judgement that those apps work.

Wait till the public beta, unless your a Dev you shouldn’t be running this on a daily driver

Rika is absolutely right though, Apple clearly stated this is not for public consumption and ideally shouldn’t be anyone’s daily driver, even for devs. They made the install process intentionally complex to deter this

Btw there is about 6 weeks till Apple release a public beta, and probably 4 months till a GM is released. Fixing bugs on this version is for the birds

Sorry but can we just close this now then? This thread is just circling around the same point now.

Yes I’m running the beta on my main device. Yes I also have a backup device in case something goes wrong. And yes anyone else shouldn’t be doing that unless they really know what they’re doing. I’m an iOS developer, I’ve been doing this since iOS 4. We got hit hard by what we thought was a minor bug that turned out to be a nasty memory edge case bug in watchOS but we only found out in beta 4 (out of like 7-8) and by then it was too late for them to fix it for the public release, so I just have a habit of reporting everything to Apple and other devs now sorry! (Plus QA would be having words with me if I started slacking!)

The report is here and the thread is now closed as requested.

No doubt the do/don’t of iOS 13 will continue on the other threads already discussing it.
