iOS 26

My battery seems to have settled a little.

Still gets warm and drains faster than usual but within the realms of expected behaviour for a beta.

So mines been pretty stable.

Settings: Turned off notifications in AOD and phone has also been in reduce interruptions focus mode. I’ve also set battery mode to adaptive.

Typical usage. Did try to push it and listen to music for a little while which had the most noticeable effect but that was always the case. Also the mix is kinda weird.

Oooo I didn’t see any wallet update…

It’s for accounts you have connected with a balance.

Revolut doesn’t show it as I can’t connect the balance.

One thing I don’t like so far is the use of dark mode icons in light mode. I don’t know if this is by design or a bug, but some icons when I swipe down to search (where they are suggested) show the dark mode icon:

The keyboard is also dark which I can’t understand why.

I know folk LOVE dark mode but I hate it. Light please!

Same here for me. This was also a bug on the betas when dark apps first came out. Took a little while before it was finally sorted, so I’m guessing it’ll be sorted in Beta 2.

The wallet app redesign has some elements that could prove interesting in the future. If they end up going all out with finance:

Looks nice - I’d do this but my experience with open banking and Lloyds is that for some reason this absolutely tanks my battery. I presume that’s because it’s a live connection constantly refreshing over one way data exchange when a transaction actually happens.

I really like the look of this. I see it is only when you have linked an account? Has any one else found issues with (for example) HSBC when you link your account all the times and dates of transactions seem to be set to midnight on the day the transaction was (presumably) processed rather than the actual time or purchase as it usually is. Is there any way to fix this?

I’d guess it’s just how HSBC prints it their side ie just a date not a time, so Apple fixes the time at day start.

Something is definitely draining the battery slightly - I’d expect the light mode to have a noticeable drain and typically I’d expect dark mode to be much lower drain typically. Normally on dark mode I’d be on around 30-40% battery by now (19:36)

Light
06:00: 100%

12:15: 80%

16:55: 54%

19:48: 19%

Dark

06:00: 100%

12:43: 72%

16:44 56%

19:48: 25%

Wondered why I never got my docs reminder or Lloyds OTP by text today :grimacing:

Turned it off, but the messages were filtered, had an icon top right of messages app.

The capitals seem very un-Apple like:

Dark mode can use more at times if you have to raise the brightness levels more than you would on a light screen

Interesting, I read into this a while back and Purdue university in America suggested that at 100% brightness light mode used up to 40% brightness more than dark mode.

I think my results are down to an intermittent battery drain bug. Today on similar usage to yesterday I’m at 53% whereas yesterday it was more like 30%.

Presume this will be a hotfix for security rather than a bug fix. They said I’ve found my first bug which is in the notes app the keyboard persists so you can’t access the buttons underneath it.

No, it’s a bug fix for iPhone 15 and 16. Some iPhones are showing a low battery symbol and won’t start up after the update. This fixes the issue but affected iPhones will need to be restored using the updated version.

Ah yes, I did read something about that.

New update out.

So far has kept the dark mode icons when swiping down which is annoying!
