Oops, I lasted a whole day - Lloyds seems to work ok on the iPad so hopefully the same for iOS
I’ve not found an app that doesn’t work yet.
What I will warn is the battery drain is real. So be cautious.
Battery history changes seem like an improvement:
You tell me this now
No dramas, I expect that from the first set of Betas.
I don’t mind it, though keyboard layout here vs WhatsApp doesn’t align. WhatsApp still uses the old layout.
Unless I’m making up that the Apple standard keyboard hasn’t changed?
I just remembered that CarPlay has widgets now. Like drivers need something else to distract them.
Given the amount of drivers I see still knocking around with a phone in one hand or worse, streaming on socials, I don’t think Carplay widgets are going to be the cause here.
So having used it a little while over lunch - it’s growing on me. I think it’s because on the iPad, it’s super unready when it comes to icons, they look so much worse than on the iPhone (IMO). I love the changes made to phone, messages and general U.I - particulary the photos app - as a heavy photos user I can really appreciate that.
Also, since they’ve actually gone now, someone has to do it
“What’s up guys”
It’s changed and whatever they have done it feels better to me. I’m hitting fewer dud letters with my fingers.
It does feel nice just slightly in different places as I’ve had a few instances of wrong buttons.
Not sure what’s up with my Apple wallet but it crashes on every open. Wonder if it’s because I have a cinema ticket in it?
Mine crashed once or twice. It’s definitely a buggy first beta but I’m not one to get too surprised as it’s a beta after all.
The battery (for me) is concerning though. It’s draining faster than I would feel comfortable taking it on a day out with.
The phone is just constantly slightly warm too.
Also has anyone managed to get the lock-screen where the clock auto sizes to work? I’ve tried and the clock remains the same size on all my photos.
My battery is at 42%, though I have deleted Grindr and some other useless apps so maybe that’s why
Auto sizes no, but I’ve been able to manually adjust the clock as needed.
Haven’t seen this as yet, seems about where I’d expect it but will know more tomorrow.
Overall I’m really likening this, more than I thought I would. The one thing I still don’t like is the icons, feels a little pound shop apple ripoff to me.
Safari on the iPad will take some getting used to, it feels good but also a little clunky. Whereas on the iPhone it’s beautiful, really nice effort.
Agreed, the keyboard is a much nicer experience.
I’ve also noticed that it, to me anyway, generally looks better in light mode. The keyboard in particular looks super weird in dark mode to me.
I’ve also found it to be highly stable with no obvious bugs or performance challenges. The quality gets better and better each year.
I spotted Home & Lock Screen was eating mad amounts of battery so I’ve turned off ‘Always on Display’ to see if that helps
I turned on adaptive power under battery settings, no idea what it does or if it fixes things. I’ll know more tomorrow to track things over a full day but lost around 30% Battery in around 5 hours.
This is slightly higher than I’d expect it to be as I’ve been running light mode over dark.
Wallet was being buggy for me. Was working fine but then I was having a play around and it asked for some reconnections for the open banking stuff and then it just froze. Every time I tried to reopen just got a blank white screen. Just done a double-tap to open the default card for Apple Pay which worked and now opening Wallet it done too
I don’t know if this is what always happened, but every notification turns my whole screen on briefly, which will drain battery.
I’m sure notifications didn’t do this previously.
I’m going to monitor during the day and will report back. My phone lives in focus mode “reduce interruptions” all day so might not notice it as much.
Also, I found this.
Battery life seems much better today after turning off always on display and turning on adaptive power mode
