iOS 17

Finally got around to updating the iPad, some difference!

Just taken the plunge, but only with my iPad to start with. I haven’t actually noticed any difference yet (which is good, I suppose).

First bug (or maybe an intentional feature) that I’ve noticed. For the iOS mail app, I have badges and sounds enabled but none of the banner options. After updating to iPadOS 17 I noticed that I was no longer getting mail notification sounds. It appears that you need to have at least one of the banner options enabled to get sounds now.

If you scroll to the bottom of that screen and go on Customise Notifications - are Alerts turned on for the account you want notifications for?

Beat me to it! I’ve fallen foul of this setting a couple of times…

Tempted to install on iPhone, too. Does anybody know if the Sainsbury’s SmartShop app works OK on iOS 17?

This is such a dumb setting from Apple. I’ve fallen foul a few times.

That’s a good 2 years.

It does work - I also attempted to use it but it’s garbage (as a lot of the scan and go apps are) and I really wish they had handsets instead

You have a very unlucky journey with this  I’ve not had any issues I don’t think.

I wouldn’t know about visual voicemail, always thought they were stored on the network servers and pulled into device when available.

I always delete mine so not sure.

You do also have a lot of the accessibility options active so I wonder if it’s those causing havoc. My setup is as basic as can be as I don’t require any of the other bits, not need to test them to see what they do.

Yeah it is. Behind the scenes VVM is an IMAP mailbox on your network’s servers, they won’t be on iCloud unless you save them yourself.

If you move to a new phone you can either just call the voicemail number and listen to them the old fashioned way, or if the new device supports VVM it’ll sync them back down.

Looks like you can

Glad it came up. 2 years at once is cheaper than monthly. I was going to get monthly with the new aw ultra I am planning to buy. But now I may pay up from and then convert when the time comes. Mainly want it for when the battery inevitably goes so may as well have the damage protection for a very small difference in fee.

Beta 8 now available

Yes it does

Watch beta has totally killed my ultra took off charge last night fully charged and dead by 8 this morning normally at 97% by now

Is this with the latest beta released yesterday? I wrote earlier on the Ultra thread how good the battery life is! It charged to 100% while I was installing the beta last night and after sleep-tracking then doing an outdoor walk workout it’s down to 92% at the moment.

Yes with the one released yesterday

That’s weird. I know this is happening to some people and it’s the same with the iOS beta. On Macrumors there are people saying the battery life is rubbish and has drained 50%+ overnight and there are others saying it’s even better than iOS 16 and watchOS 9.
