Introduce yourself šŸ‘‹

Hey

Just realised Iā€™ve never actually introduced myself here :man_facepalming:

Iā€™m Aaron, and Iā€™ve been a COp since the end of October so if youā€™ve come through the chat, email or phone in the evening at the weekend since then, youā€™ve probably come across me :tada: (soz)

I regularly lurk here but donā€™t post much :grimacing:

Hi Everyone,

New to monzo forum, however I have been with monzo for a couple of months. I am trying to decide whether or not to start using monzo as my main current account, but I am hesitant of doing the move! :stuck_out_tongue:

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated

Hi,

For most people it depends what situation you are in financially. Do you need a large overdraft, be able to pick up a debit card same day kinda thing.

I know many people full monzo who do not regret it at all. They love being full monzo but itā€™s all up to what you need in a bank account.

Welcome!

Hullo

If youā€™re hesitant, why not just try it as a spending account for a while? If that goes well, you can try some Direct Debits and Standing Orders, and then move your whole account over, if you want. :+1:

Hi Rachel,

I donā€™t need an overdraft at all. My only hesitation is because I want to buy a house in a year from now and I was thinking to just stick with my current bank (Lloyds) for stability. Of course I will shop around when the time comes to get a mortgage but I donā€™t know how recognisable is monzo to the ā€˜ā€˜bigā€™ā€™ banks. Will it be ok if I show them my monzo statement when the time comes? Will they accept it or will I have any issues. Thatā€™s what I am thinking currentlyā€¦

I have no personal experience with mortgages. However, I know we have a few topics on the community about Mortgages already. Give them a search and have a chat on those and I am sure someone will help you.

@ermis Iā€™m just in the process of buying a house, got my Mortgage through Natwest, used my Monzo statements and had no issues what so ever

Thatā€™s good to know! Thanks

Loyalty to the big banks doesnā€™t tend to be worth nothing! Their mortgages tend to be uncompetitive too. Make sure you shop around before committing to a bank just because youā€™ve been with them a while.

Hey!

My nameā€™s Martin, Iā€™m from Leamington spa but living in Sheffield,
Iā€™d heard about Monzo a while back, but as you do with all new ā€˜fadsā€™ you tend to not take too much notice, it wasnā€™t until a work colleague showed me all about Monzo and how it worked I decided to take a chance! And looking back I havenā€™t regretted it other than not doing it sooner!
My personal experience is nothing but absolute positive! I used to be really awful at money switching between Lloyds and Santander for thee piggy bank techniques and budgeting with their awful internet banking, but since Iā€™ve had Monzo I I barely use them at all! Monzo, with the openess and listening to the customers instead of investors and partnerships makes banking seem real and very personal, Iā€™ve since, using pots been able to get grips with finances so easily! With normal banks your restricted in what happens next, Monzo, every week is a different update or potential idea that seperates it from the normal boring banks besides, that feeling of whipping out a hot coral card and sometimes even conversations about being Monzo at the most random times!
Seriously isnā€™t one issue Iā€™ve had with other banks that I have had with Monzo, so easy, so simole! Any problem, customer service within a few minutes,
No waiting,
Monzos allowed me to organise 50/30/20 budget so simply itā€™s unbelievable Iā€™ve ever had issues Iā€™ve had with other banks!
I would say though! It would be good if monzoā€™s could somehow organise events around Yorkshire,
I for one, have loved having monzo, keep up the cracking work!

Hi all, names Chris and Iā€™ve been a :mondo: addict for almost a year now having been introduced to it by a friend.

Been posting on here on this great community a bit more lately (since I spotted the new design thread). Just closed my first direct account and moved over to :mondo: full time and also have a joint account with my wife.

Loving the sound of some of the upcoming plans :mondo: has and look forward to seeing what else is in store!

Hey everyone :wave:t2:

Seb here - Iā€™m a software developer and been with Monzo since the Beta. Participated in the latest round of crowdfunding too.

Really great to see Monzoā€™s backlog and all of the discussions around it - and really encouraging to see a bank that operates in a truly Agile way - a shining example for many tech companies to follow.
