Nothing Jonny, we got a world to burn
So many threads about payment limit increasing etc.
Looks like Monzo are working on some stuff to make it easier to make bigger transfers, when in a known/safe location (ie. Home) to probably help protect against someone logging into your account via social engineering, and stealing all your money from your pots, account etc.
That’s one interpretation.
Unless there’s a specific string I’ve skimmed over, another would be they’re building a feature to restrict transfers when you’re not at a safe location (this would actually be a very useful and appreciated security feature IMO right out of Apple’s stolen device protection playbook).
Whichever it ends up being, it sounds awesome either way.
<string name="set_up_known_locations_subtitle">
"Let’s say home is one of your known locations. At home you can move around as much money as you like and we’ll use your location to check it’s you. Away from home, you stick to your daily allowances. This stops someone from emptying your account if they steal your phone. If you’re away from home and need to move more money, you can – that’s where your trusted approver and secret QR code come in."
</string>
This is what made me think what I thinked
Ah, in isolation it does.
But there’s a few strings above that point to you setting your own limits (presumably within Monzo’s limits) for some things. So I’ve taken that to mean as much money as you like being above your own set daily allowances but within Monzo’s global allowances.
So not actually translating into easier large transfers.
If both of these go hand in hand however, then that’s even more awesome! I don’t personally see Monzo doing that though.
From previous conversations the transfer limits for business accounts seem to be different for other businesses I’ve discussed this with, but they are still set by Monzo.
It would be helpful for both personal and business accounts to be able to request or configure own limits so let’s hope this is on the way in some form or another.
A common blunder to treat “think” as a regular verb and use “thinked” as its past tense. Remember, “thinked” is not a word in English . The correct past tense is always "thought”
There was me thinking I’d thunk.
