They really don’t. There is nothing good about them at all. From how much paper they waste and cost of issue, right through to how insecure they are. Putting aside the fact that it’s going to take 3 months for this guy to get his money when it could be transferred directly into his account in a matter of hours.
But if that’s your theory then there are loads of things that aren’t supported today that you could argue otherwise. Some things deserve to be left it the past so you can concentrate on bigger and better things for the future.
I’m glad Monzo is doing just this and I hope plenty more follow suit.

I have just had to drive to a Virgin Money Branch, and pay in a cheque as its over the limit to do the App Cheque Imaging limit, even though VM’s is twice that of Starling, Nationwide etc…
If i had taken it to the Post Office i would need an envelope and a paying in slip…
So in some instance’s you are still going to have to post it…

I suspect that the once and for all bit is already here.
If you receive cheques, Monzo are quite content for you to deposit them elsewhere if you don’t want to post them in.
