Hi all,

Since we started rolling out cards we’ve been getting tons of feedback along the lines of “I love Monzo, how can I get a card for my boyfriend?” and our only answer so far was “get your boyfriend on the waiting list and cross your fingers that the queue moves fast”. We know that’s not ideal :cry:

The good news is that we’ve been working on an alternative that, as Tristan mentioned we are calling “golden ticket” and we think it will solve this. A golden ticket is a unique code that you can share with a friend so they get a Monzo card, instantly, totally skipping the waiting list :sunglasses:

This is how it looks and, if you’re lucky, you might see one coming to your feed :soon:

How would we “win” a golden ticket? Do we need fight over chocolate bars?

To be honest we don’t really know yet. How do you think it should be?

I think anybody that has been a Monzonaut for an amount of time ( ? )should be able to get one (lol or two - if you have that many friends :slight_smile: ) a month if the system can cope with it .

If you spend ages trying to convince a friend how great the app is, you should be able to get an immediate bump up the queue for the friend with your Golden ticket, and I think the ability to do this should be renewed every month - this has been discussed before about 4 months ago about the frustration of convincing somebody how great the app is and then "dumping " them in a queue that has several thousand people in front of them - all the enthusiasm is lost .

ooooh… and then end of year have a BIG bag of swag for the best Willy or Willamena Wonka having got the most Golden Tickets activated… lol

I’ve a couple of friends I’d only be able to convince if I could get them straight to the top of the queue.

Will you be inserting an animation?

Maybe base them on usage, people using their Beta cards more often get more to give out?

I agree with @anon95680666 - that after waxing lyrical to friends and family it would be great if you could jump them straight to the top of the queue

Would it not be worth sending them out. If someone doesn’t use it then dont send them another, but if someone does use one send them another…

I think a fair way would be for those that have used their Monzo card a set number of times in one week to be entered into a draw to receive a golden ticket (provided they have opted in to the draw in some way).

I’d quite like the idea of a bar of chocolate as an alternative to the golden ticket if that’s beeing considered.

In conjunction with the other ideas on this thread how about a leaderboard for those who have submitted successful logo and location corrections and awarding golden tickets for that - it gamifys the community correction feedback feature :hugs:

Any idea how :soon: we might start to see these? I’d like to get my sister geared up with a card and the £100 top up in time for her Birthday trip to Barcelona later this month :airplane: £100 spending money and fee free transactions! :gift: :tada:

one of my neighbours signed up on Tuesday, and got their card today on iPhone - so good to see this kind of service when you recommend something to somebody - well done Monzo.
