Getting A Tattoo

Okay there are many ways to heal tattoos. I use saniderm since I volunteer with children and they touch it. This way normally bypasses scabbing time.

The “normal” way is washing and moisturising two/ three times a day. This does lead to scabbing and that itches. So the artist will wrap up the tattoo and you leave it for 24hrs wrapped in cling film then you wash and don’t wrap it again.
Do not itch tattoo. Little pats works best since if you scratch you will pull out the ink.

Won’t need a numbing cream will I ? Spoke to the tattooist and said I shouldn’t as it’s on my forearm and he has a spray there if needed.

Don’t use numbing cream. 1. You shouldn’t need it. 2. It makes your skin awful for your artists.

There is a cool spray however but only works on tattooed skin so good for white work at the end (you won’t have white work but thought I would include).

I doubt it, it’s like a scratchy feeling, once you get passed the first line you’ll be fine.

I had a bunch of tattoos on my arms that I came to regret. After speaking to a good artist, they assured me they could create something beautiful out of the work I had! So after a few sessions I had a couple of bigger pieces on my arms, which I now love. That seemed a much better outcome for me than lazer, which wouldn’t really fix the problem. Expensive though.

Just a thought.

Reworks and coverups are the best! Do you have before and after pics

I do but it’s incredibly difficult to take pictures of your own arms haha. I’ll try to find some later.

Here it is. My camera is terrible but it looks immaculate in person.
As its on my forearm, am I able to gently shave it every week or so?

No don’t shave it… let the hair grow back naturally (that’s more itchy for me than the scabbing tbh!!) Looks good.

OK thanks I’ll give it a month then. As I have black hair it might cover the tattoo.

In regards to the tattoo itself it felt quite therapeutic more than painful

Yeah I find that too, I’ve a few and a couple were a little painful in spots (two very on the inner bicep, ouchy) but overall it’s kinda weirdly relaxing.

And feel free to shave once it’s all healed but that takes a few weeks to properly calm down… its your arm pal, I just meant you don’t have to to help the tattoo!

Wait until it is fully healed over a month before shaving. If not you will rip the ink out in the scabs.
Yeah I sit 8 hours most times and it’s easy!

OK thanks.
The cream he put on after was really soothing as it cooled it right down.

I can’t feel it at the moment but I’m guessing it will scab and itch a bit soon?
