Getting A Tattoo

Yeah give it a few days, wash and clean it as instructed, the itch will start in a week or less. Main thing is to try not to ‘pull’ the scabs. But if you keep it moisturised it’ll be fine. Naturally it’ll heal and the scabs will fall off, and if there are any whiter areas, go back for a touch up (I hope they’ve told you that already!)

Great thanks.
I’ll put a shirt on overnight so I don’t itch it when sleeping… Or should I use some cling film?

Oh no. Do not use that at all it is proven to do absolutely nothing for a tattoo. If anything go to superdrug and get tattoo goo.

Ahhh love this topic! Bepanthen, cocoa butter, overpriced goo… all just doing the same thing, protecting and moisturising, no?

I typically slept with cling film over mine for a day or so, just to be safe.

Don’t need to cling film. Worst case I used a pillow case and used that over tattoo so I didn’t disturb it. It will be fine.

I assume you got anti- bacterial soap?

Nope it was proven to be awful for them a few years ago.

@Venomx here’s a good website with lots of advice: If not treacle tatts on youtube

Yes plenty of it.
He said use luke warm water to wash it with the soap and then cold water after

Perfect :ok_hand:

A great article! Not heard about marbling issues though, and I’ve used it for all of mine without any problems. Is it a word of mouth thing or is there actual science behind that?? Just curious.

I think some people did some tests. I did have a link but we talk about it often in a tattoo fb group I am in. Let me look.
If it works for you though and is fine I wouldn’t worry too much I just know a few people with the marbling issues so I never like to suggest it.

All good, I hadn’t heard that at all. Mind you cocoa butter was suggested to me last time so maybe I wasn’t paying attention… (it has been known!)

Yeah things change all the time.
I use two but mostly Hustle Butter while and after scabbing.

Thanks for all your info guys

Last question am I OK to shower today or not?

Yep. If you got it on your arm just avoid getting it wet by holding it up.

Healing nicely, tiny bit of blood overnight ( put some cling film on before bed ) no itchyness yet

Would consider getting something else once this ones healed up ( another month or so ), but will take more thought because i’ll probably get a lion or tutankhamun.

Should I discuss it with the tattooist or print some ideas off and show him ?

Is this the beginning of an addiction? :joy:

Could well be lol.
However, I’m not gonna get one for the sake of it, i’ll have a thorough think and ask around before getting anything.

Decided I’ll get my surname underneath the one I’ve just had. Will wait until the end of the month

Is it a good idea to wait until the first one has scabbed and set before getting the next one? Just to make sure I can do the aftercare properly and that it looks good once scabbed etc

Still waiting for this one to start scabbing, seems to be going slowly

Only been 3 days so does take just over a week to scab normally.
Do whatever you want. However, since it is first I would wait to see healing so you know if things work or not for next time.
There’s the London tattoo convention that you might want to go to… I am going this year too.

Cool yeah thought it would be a better idea. Will wait then, gives me something to look forward to
