So true. I paid something like £1 for Rust and
played it for near enough 600 hours.

Same with Mordhau/Chivalry. The hours to price is like in the single pennies at this point.

Civilisation is also something in the several hundred hours, but I’ve been tracking it as a series because I play them over years.

Be careful with Switch games from CEX.

There is a ā€œflash cartā€ for the Switch (not Switch 2) and also a dumper. While I don’t think it’s likely, it is possible that someone has dumped and is playing the backups of previously purchased games on their Switch.

If both copies were to connect to Nintendo servers at the same time, my understanding is Nintendo have been banning consoles.

Doesn’t apply to Switch 2 games yet and much more likely people pirating games on their Switch are on offline hacked consoles though. Just worth being aware that this is a possible risk with Switch games.

The Switch 2, right? Original Switch already has an OLED model, unfortunately my Switch isn’t one.

I’m very used to OLED panels, but I don’t think I’ve ever used OLED monitors so I might not be as sensitive to this.

That and it’s a Nintendo console - I don’t think I’ve ever been that invested in good graphics for something made by Nintendo. Playing PokĆ©mon isn’t that deep. It looks better than it did on my GBA SP and that’s enough for me.

You can share digital with one other ps5 by having your main console as their one and they play your games on their account and then you play your games logged in as you on yours. Been doing it since the ps5 came out and it has basically halved all costs. Not quite the same as Ā£9 for the game but I don’t play all the time so it is a good balance for me.

Been back playing blue prince. I think I’ve done everything I can think of doing at this point so probably going to stop again…

I’m not long off 40 and do enjoy gaming. Not as much as I did, or maybe it’s just the quality of games has changed.

I can’t get into elder scrolls or Witcher, but may try the new one when it comes.

I’ve grown up with a love for resident evil and final fantasy games which tick every box.

Some basic ones like sackboy also grab my attention for simple yet fun.

I tried it and hated it. Weighted backpacks and co wind me up :joy:

I’m nearly 56 and still love gaming. Some people think its juvenile but its a bit of escapism for me

100% agree with escapism. As gory and horror filled as some games are, they really chill me out.

I’m holding our hope for Stray 2 but apparently there was some drama with Annapurna Interactive and Blue Twelve Studio so it’s probably not going to happen. It feels stupid to not make at least a sequel for a game that sold as well as Stray did!

I love the Switch 2. Been using it for about an hour. Lovely vibrant display, nice joy cons, easy software. Speakers are decent quality as well.

Joy cons definitely don’t feel like they’re going to come off on their own. Either they’re on really strong or I’ve got weak fingers.

Will grab some photos in a bit but it’s just an incredible console. Absolutely worth the Ā£30 I paid for it.

I’d say the screen is fine. Definitely nothing special, but a massive improvement on my Switch Lite.

Given where prices are going, the Switch 2 qualifies as very good value for money right now.

Improvement over Switch Lite but downgrade over Switch OLED unfortunately

The value proposition however remains amazing, especially as once it reaches EoL it will become an emulation machine too

Apparently display is comparable to Switch OLED.

But even if Switch 2 screen is worse, I’d take the marginally worse display to have the power of the new Nvidia stuff and 12GB of RAM!

It’s not in the same league. There’s still plenty of room for them to launch a Switch 2 OLED at a premium and keep the current model.

Not possible - OLED and TN/IPS panels (guessing Switch 2 is IPS) are leagues apart). OLED has deeper blacks and more vibrant colours, because they can individually turn pixels off.

Hopefully they release it at some point. I’ve already started my Japanese grammar flashcards ready to buy the cheaper model :joy:

Yeah OLED is always going to be better, but as LCD panels go, this is a very good one!

Yeah exam was yesterday and then I opened this when I got home.

Having HDR also helps the screen I think

Either way I’m enjoying it so far, and it’s nice to have a new way to game.

How do you think you did on the exam? Hopefully well! I had some work examination too so we’ll both be waiting for results now
