I think New Horizons is their biggest mistep. It was really enjoyable and I spent a lot of hours in it, but I feel like it could have been so much more with so many more expansions etc. It just felt after a few months, there wasnāt really anymore reason to play, especially when the negative impacts of not playing werenāt as big as other games (even if they were never too big to begin with).
Switch definitely should be the brand they finally settle on. Itās gimic is actually useful and isnāt something that the other brands have been doing in this way. Obviously that means it wonāt be as powerful as the other consoles, but Nintendo is the best at creating games using the power available to them.
I just started playing Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core Reunion on PS5. I bought it last year when it came out, but just hadnāt got around to it yet.
Itās so much better than the old PSP version. When I played that one, I only did as many side missions as necessary for me to be strong enough to beat the story, because I found them so annoying and cumbersome.
With this one, not only does it look beautiful (theyāve obviously been able to reuse a lot of stuff from FF7 remake) but thereās so many QOL improvements and the combat is so much better that Iāve already done over 20 side missions and unlocked a bunch of cool items at only Chapter 3 of the main story.
Zack is still one of the best characters in the whole FF series. And more Aerith is never a bad thing
Had the updated version for about a week now. No massive changes but definitely looks better and feels better to use, especially when you can actually see your background more now!
And just as a reminder/if you didnāt know - You can use Amazon Luna with Ubisoft+ so if you donāt want to download any games for a month, just use Luna on whatever devices you have to play on the cloud.
Taking advantage of the free trial of Disney Speedstorm with Xbox Gold/Game Pass Ultimate and I have to say, Iām actually impressed with it which is rare for racing games that arenāt Mario Kart. The controls are really good and are much better than Sonic Racing games which Ive always had issues with. The track designs Iāve played so far have also been really fun, plus it looks great.
The obvious downside to it is the free-to-play nature of it with the season pass system however, if you resist all of their tactics to get you to spend money, it is a really good racing game considering it will soon be free for everyone.
Iāve currently got a 15% off electronics deal on Amazon, which includes the PS5 Digital edition. Could get that for about Ā£340 which is a good deal, but then I barely have time to play the XBox Series S, so probably not worth getting both, even if there are a few PS5 exclusives that Iām interested in.
Iād also rather save for Switch 2, which has to be coming soon considering all the manufacturing rumours, along with how old the Switch is currently, as well as how few games we actually have coming up.
Although saying that, might have just bought it haha. Have more money than I thought I did and got nothing else to spend it on. Not going to get Ā£50 off a console very often, plus Iāll be less busy quite quickly as much of the uni project Iām working on is nearly done.
That was literally one of my arguments against getting it
But Iām sure I can manage to change the cables a few times. My TV in my room is just on my desk so it isnāt difficult or anything.
I know I will end up using it and I havenāt immediately regretted buying it which is usually a good sign. Iāll probably just play Game Pass games on XBox with the odd month with Ubisoft+ and then buy any other games on PlayStation. Thereās barely any games coming out on Switch that Iām interested in so Iāll be āsavingā money there.
A bit random, but I watched this video earlier and I totally feel it.
I remember getting the first version of Xbox Live during my teenage years and playing Rainbow 6 and Halo 2 online. It was a different time. So social, with everyone on mic. I made some good friends then.
Contrast to today, and most people either donāt play with a mic or play in party chat / discord. This leaves gaming, even multiplayer gaming, feeling lonely to me.
Does anyone else feel like this? Or js it just because Iām in my 30s?
If Iām in the mood for multiplayer, I join the discord chat. I have some kinda gaming friends from that. If anything I thought it was more social now, because of discord / clans / constant easy ways to find people to play with online.
You want to find a good server for the game you are playing. Most games have a clan system and thereās a discord for the clan. Most of the ones I join are tagged LGBT and/or āMatureā.
PS5 has arrived! Havenāt played it yet but just had to comment on the design.
After just seeing pictures, I wasnāt really sure about it but in person, it looks brilliant. Love its shape and the black and white works so well. I knew it was big, not quite that big, but still looks good vertical. Less good horizontal. Kinda just looks a bit āoh no, Iāve fallen overā.
Iām not quite as sold on the controller. The way the black is on it doesnāt quite looks right to me and the d pad doesnāt feel how Iām used from Xbox and Switch. The two smaller buttons also feel a bit too high up. However, Iām sure Iāll get used to it the more I actually use it.
