I was charged twice for the same transaction, the merchant told me that monzo is supposed to refund me because just a payment went to theit account and the other payment was retained by Monzo
If you scroll to the bottom of each transaction, one of them will show pending. It will be reversed soon.
If it hasn’t gone to the merchant then it’s still in your account. If so then it’s reserved just in case the merchant claims it later. If they don’t claim it, as seems likely, the reservation will be removed after a number of days.
These things normally happen when the merchant charges things in a slightly abnormal way resulting in two copies of the transaction at the bank end of things.
