my bad i didnt look well enough i say jewellery and gold/silver and assumed it was the wrong site

Silly question but can you make a cash withdrawal? Why not just remove whatever is left in your account that way?

It removes the burning bridge at least - and then you can work on getting another basic/bank account that way.

my account is completely locked, i have tried to withdraw but they wont let me. surely that would be a lot easier for them but no.

i have also asked them if they could unlock it for about 20 mins but they denied my request

Presumably you didn’t tell them prior to this that you’re struggling to open another account?

As mentioned above, perhaps they can provide a cheque or pay it into someone elses account instead.

Tricky situation. Could you get a pre-paid card? Seems to be a fee but some are only 99p a month. ‘Pockit’ say it lets you “send money from another account” so it might work for you.

Otherwise, like others have said, try a Basic Bank Account, although I appreciate being Under 18 may limit your options.

the moment they told me to give alternate details i told them i didnt have another account
and their answer hasnt changed.

I imagine that’s a common response they recieve, whereas if you give them detail as to why and what you’ve done to try (like you have here) perhaps that will change? Worth a shot, you’ve nothing to lose.

ive given them all i have. i have nothing else i can say and they are still persisting for me to give an alternate account…

are then any requirements for Cifas declaration to open a savings account with the likes of the halifax building society one where you get a passbook and no access to a card

appologies for being a bit stupid but could you explain what you mean

just a normal savings account with a building society which gives you a passbook to keep track of your savings and if you want to draw out you go to the branch and draw out cash

Are we talking about a lot of money here that’s left in your account?

I understand that’s not the point and it’s your money regardless, but if it’s only a small amount is all of this worth it?

i know this may sound like a joke to you but its 175£ it might not be a lot for you but its pretty much all i have.

That’s fine  I’d do all of this for £175 - I was thinking if it’s less than say £40 perhaps not… but I agree that amount is quite a chunk.
