My premium bond cheque cleared without issue :+1:

Here’s to me winning this month :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Premium bonds is mostly all I personally get excluding business.
My business gets a few but it is at least declining.

I think the reason these aren’t marked as done is that custom payee photos haven’t been implemented on iOS yet and custom payee photos also don’t show up on the transaction feed.

This is definitely done. Flex == Monzo version of a credit card. Other things people are asking for are features for Flex.

There are a few other topics that have been completed but not marked as done:

Joint Account cards should be different colour! - 108 votes.

Integrated cashback / rewards scheme - 106 votes

And a few topics which have the :white_check_mark: but haven’t been moved to the ‘Done!’ topic:

Debit card pot to pay from / spend from pots / pay from pot (Monzo Plus Virtual Card) - 180 votes

Bills pots: support for (card) Subscriptions / recurring card transaction payments to come out of pots (Monzo Plus Virtual Card) - 133 votes

And, finally, one topic that should probably be marked with :x::

Fitbit Pay - 85 votes

We probably need a topic to track the updates needed to topics !

An update on my cheque (non-)paying in experience.

I queried the reason the cheque was unpaid via Chat. Was it something I did wrong, e.g. dodgy photos, or was there a problem with the cheque itself.

Answer was that it was not honoured due to insufficient funds. This was odd as my dad usually keeps more than I would like in his current account. I phoned to tell him to check with his bank. He is 86 and has no online or phone banking. He was immediately worried that someone had “raided” his account and because he could not get into the branch until the next day he hardly slept that night. (There was probably a number he could call but he’s elderly and somewhat confused and still won’t accept any help or advice from anyone.) The next day his bank confirmed that his funds were untouched and he was angry and upset that I had caused him to be so worried.

I queried again with Monzo and told them it was not insufficient funds, so what was the problem. Days later they have come back and breezily said that the date was not especially legible (dad’s handwriting) and if I post the cheque it’ll probably be fine.

So as a result of them coming back with an incorrect initial answer an elderly person was panicked and lost sleep unnecessarily.

I’m really happy that we have cheque imaging in-app now, well done to all involved, but again the support behind this has failed at the first hurdle for what should have been a simple query.

It would be good if their system could automatically flag issues like this so it doesn’t even need to go to CS. If it had just told you in-app that it couldn’t be accepted because the date (or more genetically something) on the cheque was illegible then this may have helped.

I had a very similar issue with Starling.

The difference being, though, that I was given the correct information first time and was able to resolve it immediately.

I agree, other apps tell you what the issue is - for example, I often get cheques written to ‘Heckie’ when my legal name is ‘Hector’ and Starling usually tell you this when they reject it.

That’s the hallmark of good service.

Tell me about it man. Hope you are doing well.

I took it into a branch. A human looked at it, said it looked fine. Cleared 2 days later.

Holy moly. Stop the clock Monzo. I’m impressed that Monzo has finally rolled out a feature before every man and their dog stopped using cheques.

What was the delay? Will there be some Hollywood epic to tell some tale of persistence over adversity? So many questions (probably answered elsewhere, admittedly).

Paid in my first cheque thanks to the DVLA being weird (sure I can pay for my car tax with a card but you can’t refund it the same way ).

Easy process once I had remembered which menu it was in

As others have mentioned the little countdown to the cheque being cleared doesn’t take in to account “working days”. So either this cheque actually is going to clear today (at a strange time) or it is still a day or two away. But the “today” banner is confusing.

It just cleared just before 5pm so I take it back! Spot on accurate just an unexpectedly late clearance

Is that near the time you originally scanned it in?

Erm I it was probably in the afternoon as our post typically arrives late.

Just checked my Nest Home/Away activity and I got home about 4:30 so seems incredibly likely I scanned it shortly after. Three day clearing MAGIC.

First chance to use cheque imaging, thanks to a bit of over-interest on a paid-off-and-closed credit card. Exactly how much this 50p refund will have actually cost will be eye-watering I’m sure.

Monzo’s app is very slick with this process :+1:

Can’t believe I completely missed this.

I don’t bother checking this thread as I assume it’s just people pointlessly moaning about cheque imagine when it was clearly never going to happen .

That’s me corrected. Better late than never, but way too late for me personally.

I do wonder now Monzo have this feature - how many people actually deposit cheques (not incl businesses)
