Good point. Almost everyone I know is on Monzo so I could just Monzo it over to them instantly.

Agreed on all this - my example was from before all these technological advancements! 
Before I went full Monzo, NatWest had adjusted their emergency cash feature to be “get cash”. I used it a few times just so I didn’t need to take my bank card out in places I don’t know (and also confuse people who were amazed at me getting cash without putting my card in). I also used it once to send cash to a friend who had lost their wallet (I just sent them the code and told them to find a Tesco/Natwest/RBS machine). It’s a very cool feature, but as mentioned it’s a special thing for RBS group ATMs, not something other banks can tap into.
