Bank of China (UK)

So if I get these apps with a mix of underlying free FX cards linked I’ll be in business?

Is there also we chat pay too?

You’d better just pick Alipay, it is going to have 100% acceptance rate wherever you are and has a specific offering for tourists / visitors

Thanks I will look into it soon

Colleague with Chinese wife opened BOC account in China without having a residence card.

So if you’re on holiday in China, you can just roll up to a BOC branch and open an account?

Two of us have set up AliPay and WeChat pay so :crossed_fingers:

Beijing, Xi’An, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shanghai

I’ll keep an eye out for that!

We have the relevant visa and all that sorted

Looking to do the facial scan on AliPay and set up a Beijing Metro card at the airport upon arrival!

Yes

Do you recommend the trip . Com e SIM?

What I mean is my AliPay currently has passed basic identify verification with a passport uploaded, when I chatted with AliPay they said I need to do a face scan when I arrive in mainland China. So hopefully that works. If it’s not needed, no problem!

I’ve already got a Lebara sim actually had it years. I did see it was roam free, my partner doesn’t though.

I thought the e-sim was needed for skipping certain internet restrictions on data?

No issue with any testing all in good health

Passport is relatively new for both.

All hotels. Its good to hear that the Lebara SIM works well. May just look into the e SIM for my partner.

I have Revolut e SIM as a worst case scenario back up too.

Do I need to bother with a VPN for when using WiFi? If so what do you recommend?

Any food or itinerary recommendations amongst the places I’m visiting?

Can’t wait!
