I’m not sure if this has been covered or not, but I just wanted to feed back on whether there are any plans to update the way the balance shows when you first open the app.
With other main banks (Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest etc) they will show my updated balance as soon as you open the app.
With Monzo, it takes a few seconds for it to update, meaning sometimes I think I have more money than I have!
It’s more of an annoyance, but is the main reason I won’t use Monzo as my main account. I would rather the app take a few seconds before displaying anything and then display the most up to date balance
You don’t even get chance to read your balance before it animates. It literally takes 1 second, might even be a fraction of a second.
I understand it’s each to their own and all that, but this has got to be up there as one of the most bizarre reasons for not having Monzo as a main account
I can understand the feedback, but to say that this minor inconvenience is your main reason for not using Monzo as main account is bizarre.
The issue is that the Monzo app caches the balance and recent transactions, so it loads that first then refreshes. (Mine takes a split second to update upon opening).
I put my phone in aeroplane mode to disable all data and loaded Monzo, NatWest, Nationwide, Barclaycard and Moneybox apps. All except Monzo refused to let me “login”. So no balances at all. Monzo loaded and showed my balance from yesterday (hadn’t opened the app at all before then today, and I had saving challenge and a Direct Debit come out today).
Yeah, I totally get all your replies and comments. It is each to their own I guess, I just find it annoying.
To be fair there isn’t anything extra that Monzo gives (for the free account) than my Lloyds account, which doesn’t have that issue, so I guess if Monzo offered more for the free account, that issue might be lower down the list, if that makes sense!
I just wanted to give my feedback, but couldn’t find anywhere to put it, except for on here
