Apple Pay - Any updates?

Given that Tom announced this a couple of months ago I don’t think you’re giving too much away:

Ah sorry - I didn’t see that post :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s just the ease of use. I rarely carry my card around with me when I’m in Dublin as my Euro bank account accepts Android Pay and all places now accept Android pay all I need is my phone.

In NI, I use Monzo where I can… and even places like Tesco’s I’ve got TescoPay+ setup for my Monzo card and Clubcard. I don’t need to worry about leaving the house with my wallet.

We use cards to be a cashless society, but I still need to carry about my wallet. Android pay takes the need away from me to carry anything but my phone.

It also has a higher limit for contactless, when the place accepts it and in my case only works if you have access to my phone and it’s unlocked… While my card will work if you just took it from me… for a while.

You won’t get ApplePay until the accounts are in full swing.

Would be awesome if you could connect your Monzo card to your iPhone wallet :raised_hands:t4:

When Apple Pay arrives, it will be in there. It is planned, just were not sure when that will happen due to Apple’s NDA’s.

Lack of Apple Pay is the main thing that’s stopping me from shifting my banking properly to Monzo and bidding farewell to First Direct, so the sooner it arrives the better!

I’m with FD and find them great. I do wonder when Monzo will join the party. They’ve promised for ages ‘when the current account gets here’ so hopefully won’t be long. Be interested in a timeframe.

Once we get Apple Pay I’ll be one step closer to ditching my old bank altogether, Apple Pay and the ability to pay in cash are the only reason I’m still carrying the dreaded non-coral card () with me

I have no such adversity to my hot coral card which puts me at a slight advantage… I’ll keep my legacy bank’s Visa debit card on Apple Pay whilst continuing to carry Monzo in my front left pocket. At least if one system goes down I’ll always have a fall back.

I prefer paying with the card just to show off the hot coral card, but still, Android Pay is easier and gives me high value contactless (CDCVM), so I use it more often.

Is there any acronym you don’t know? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry - Consumer Device Cardholder Verification Method for those who don’t know

How do you know where supports CDCVM? Does the terminal tell you? Do you have to ask? Do staff have a clue? :joy:

If the terminal lets you tap for over £30 in the UK, CDCVM is supported (tho maybe not for Amex).

Also if the receipt says ‘Verified by Cardholder Device’

No, most staff don’t have a clue and get surprised!

Most of the newer terminals or older terminals that have been updated. Usually the shops will advertise that they support android or Apple pay. If the payment is for more than £30 the payment terminal will give an option to pay with contactless.
