Do you have any hidden pots?
Just checked and it doesnāt look like it.
Isnāt this annoying anyone else? Why do I have to swipe through the āYour pots have a new homeā card when I want to swap accounts. Like the OP said, itās infuriating! Can we please have the ability to dismiss this ācardā once weāve read the message? Please?!
It sounds like you are still on the old app layout⦠in the new layout the carousel has gone so there is no side swiping of accounts, so your problem will go away anyway.
Iām on the latest version on iOS. From the home screen, when I select an account then I see the carousel. Isnāt that what everyone else sees?
No, but Iāve enabled āNew personal account viewsā in Labs.
Yes @mikez , I think this is the difference here⦠itās easy to forget what is in labs, what is rolling out, what has been fully rolled out.
Iāve got the ānew personal account viewsā active in Labs, so when I click on an external account I donāt see the carousel, I see similar to what Iād see for Flex or my monzo account. This is all good, however I have a suggestionā¦
In addition to my NatWest CC I also have a NatWest BNPL account, which shows as just a plain credit card in the list of connected accounts. I think this kind of product is ripe for the same kind of content you see on Flex when you click into the account, i.e. show the Activity section (each item with a bar indicating progress paying off), as well as the Limit Used section. I hope this could be derived from the transaction info in some wayā¦
Iād also like it not be tagged as a āCredit Cardā (maybe āBNPL Credit Cardā?), because alongside my other CC I have to rely on the credit limit to know which is which.
Anyone else have a BNPL product with card whoād want a similar thing?
I love your suggestion but I will say that the information we get from other banks is usually limited to what is required by the open banking specification. I would be very surprised if NatWest provide the amount of information required to create an experience similar to what we have for Flex. This doesnāt mean that they definitely donāt but I would be surprised if they did. Itās also challenging as if the information isnāt part of the spec then the other bank could change it. I donāt believe they have to provide notice to these changes so we would only find out on the day it changed. Just because something is difficult doesnāt mean we shouldnāt do it but the dependency on another bank makes it a lot more challenging
Hmm, I suspected youād struggle to get that info easily from what they supply, if itās as limited as you say, certainly working out what payments were against which transaction from the transaction history alone would be a struggle if you didnāt simply pay in 4 instalments (as the default) but instead paid it off early, or overpaid. Difficult. Iāve only got one transaction and 4 instalments to clear it but it could get very complex Iām sure.
However you could certainly specifically identify it as a BNPL product ā the name looks to come through as {name} - NWB BNPL
for the BNPL account, whereas the credit card comes through as {name} - MASTERCARD
ā I can only see this if I have personal account views in Labs turned off, as with it on you just put CREDIT CARD in small text below the logo. (I can provide screen grabs to explain better!).
Anyway, whatever you could do would be nice!!
When will the text notifying us that pots have moved to home disappear?
Itās kindāve annoying having it sat their between my accounts with no way to remove it.
I preferred having pots left where they are but as Iāve got used to the move Iād at least like to be able to remove this notice
Iāve enabled the new personal account views Labs feature - Iām a heavy connected accounts user, and it needs some sort of gesture to go back to the main view. Whether itās tapping the account block at the top that takes you back, or dragging it down, or swiping from the side, just something more than the X button.
Also FWIW I have 15+ connected accounts and itās the only reason I have Plus, so if anyone at Monzo wants to add me to a ājeez this guy uses this feature a lotā list to exchange feedback Iād be happy to do that.
On Android, your phoneās built in back button/gesture works to dismiss the account view in the Monzo app.
On iOS, there is no āback buttonā built in, but Monzo have stated that they are looking to add a back gesture to the app which should help.
Thanks for trying this out! I hear you on the gestureā¦itās coming for iOS
Thanks for sharing! I expect that in the background Natwest have set this product up on some credit card rails which makes it available via open banking.
Is it this product? Iāve no idea how widely adopted it is but looks like its closed to new customers so big investment here probably wonāt benefit many or our customers
Iāve only recently got a NatWest Credit Card. It does have an āinstallmentsā feature but not sure how this would work with Open Banking for those transactions since I canāt use it while my 0% on purchases offer is active, but I do wonder if it is linked to the BNPL product?
Yes, thatās the one. Thereās no physical card, and you have to be an existing customer.
Just a case of counting how many people have a NatWest OB connection where one of the account names ends in BNPL, to see how many would benefit? But I donāt think itās a major ask to show BNPL against a BNPL product, if any other more involved change is being pooh-poohed.
Iām just asking the question. As a developer myself I have made changes which were quality of life improvements for a single user before.
Thatās a thing where you pay off specific purchases without interest but with a monthly fee that I think is slightly below the APR. So itās kind of like BNPL, but youāre still paying for the privilege, itās not free like the BNPL product can be. Iāve never used it myself.
Been using Monzo since Feb 2016 and I have to say that the app has never felt so difficult to navigate.
The way personal and joint accounts/pots/etc are mixed up on the home screen makes it hard for me to understand what I have and get around. I thought I would get used to it after a few weeks but sadly not.
Really hope that this can be changed so things are organised by which account they are related to, not what type of thing they are.
#BringBackTheCarousel
After careful consideration, I agree. Itās the separation of pots that causes the issue. Iāve also found that I need to do more mental work to grasp a financial picture at any point and so Iām actually using the app less and less for ācheckingā
Good - the Home top card stack
Bad - separation of pots from accounts
Pots are basically dead to me now. Bills pot and IASP are the only ones I have.
