Could you please give an update on when feed filtering and section reordering is being released? I love the new layout, but these two additions would top it off :ok_hand:

Some filtering and customising the number of transactions will be ready early in the new year.

There are a few things ahead of reordering right now so that’ll take a little longer to get to.

Great, thanks for the update :grinning:

I think it’s good that you can now pin connected accounts. I think it’s good you’ve told me I can do this.

I don’t think it’s good that you automatically pinned an account that I had zero interest in pinning and then had to faff about getting rid.

We don’t usually go into lots of detail on experiments but given that this one’s pretty simple, I’m happy to shed some light on why we chose this approach.

After we launched the feature in labs, we also ran an experiment to see the effect of 2 different approaches;

  1. Tell customers that the feature was available, and let them know how to use it
  2. Pin the account with the account with the most recent activity, and tell customers how to customise

For option 1, 10% of the customers we messaged had an external account pinned by the end of the experiment. For option 2, 92% had an external account pinned.

Those with a pinned account were 53% more engaged with the external account than those without - indicating that we were helping them get more value from a feature they’re paying for. A good proportion of those we automatically pinned for also pinned additional accounts.

Another positive was that we introduced more customers to the customisation options available (not enough know about it!)

Importantly, we didn’t see any grumbles crop up with COps or on social media (until now )

While it’s not a surprise that doing the thing has a bigger impact than telling customers they can do the thing , we could make the decision in the knowledge that the benefits appear to outweigh any drawbacks - though it’s impossible to get it perfect for every customer.

We considered lots of different rules for which account to pin (the one with the most recent transaction, the one with the balance closest to zero, the one most frequently spent on) but we ultimately decided that it’s really difficult to get right. An account you spend on the most might not necessarily be the one you want pinned alongside your Monzo account. Because of this, we opted to pin the one most recently transacted with as we felt the recency would make it the least confusing for customers.

Hope that helps, sorry that it was an inconvenience for you

I can’t argue when something is backed up by numbers considering that’s what my job is too!

I do think a slight improvement would have been a prompt/more obvious way to unpin. I’ve been using the new since it was launched and it took me a few taps to find how to get rid, which I think was more of my frustration rather than it being pinned in the first place.

I do appreciate the explanation though. Glad to be the first to moan

Me and my partner absolutely loved Monzo until the latest app design.

What were they thinking?!

Pots are now on a row with single and joint accounts mixed into the same row, it was perfectly fine as it was!

Anyone else hate the new design? Me and my partner are considering moving banks it’s so bad

I’m also not a huge fan but let’s be realistic, is there a better app experience with another bank? What bank do you have in mind?

I think I just got a new sound when I sent someone money from my Monzo account. Do my ears deceive me?

Android beta.

If anyone wants to test the new sound, you can send me 1p to hear it.

If money is being sent I am looking for a house deposit…

Never gonna give you 1p

I’ll need to send more money, was in a noisy environment :face_with_peeking_eye:

Can anyone point me to a description/user story/post on how the new format is supposed to work when you are running a personal and joint account.

Having the activity in a single feed, then having the pots mixed isn’t really working for me.

I’d prefer to have my personal and joint accounts separated in the view and then make it easier for me to use the Trends function on a per account basis rather then having to toggle the accounts/pots every time.

The money in each of the accounts is not related in anyway and I’d like to be able to change accounts, like i do with my business account.

How do others set this up?

Soon you’ll be able to select what’s in the activity feed.

As for pots, I have my personal ones in one colour and joint in another.
