It’s funny how bad the training around this is. At times I’ve been told we can’t refund to ‘that’ and they ask me to use the card. Somehow it still works out though.
I must be on old version of app I don’t get them notification options!
You need to drag down to get the 3 vertical dots which give the menu to the settings.
Indeed it is progress. Go Monzo Team Go.
It means we might be next so, good job.
I can’t see any prob just me being daft!
Seems odd that Monzo would focus on a mobile payment technology that has only 10% of usage (vs Apple Pay’s 90%) in global markets. The fact is, most Android handsets and OS versions out in the wild are woefully out-of-date. Whereas Apple Pay has been out for a long time and is integrated into a large number of handsets - also with wealthier users known for spending more.
Here is a very polite response to a very ‘poor post’
Monzo’s customers are almost totally UK based and those figures bear no resemblance to its customers. It’s hardly surprising that Monzo would include mobile payment technology for both Android and Apple users; it just so happens that Android came first.
HSBC are bigger but they only spoke about Apple Pay when it launched. I guess when Apple is actively courting you it will turn a blind eye to certain activities.
What I like is best and I am right… Puts fingers in ears La La La La La I can’t hear you…
Absolutely, and Barclays wanted to play difficult by launching their own app that had NFC payments. Only ever happened on Android and Barclays gave in as they wasn’t getting it their way.
Barclays gave in? Gave in to what? Sorry I am a little confused.
They eventually signed up to Apple Pay
Barclays never wanted to be part of Apple Pay
As per this article, Barclays avoided partnership as they had their own contactless platform.
Finally, this was the only reason I preferred my current bank over monzo, now it’s gonna be so much simpler
Hi @bea - good news that AndroidPay is here! In Spain however it seems that contactless payments often if not always require a PIN. 🇪🇸 Monzo in Spain [Discussion]
Does this mean that AndroidPay won’t therefore work if a PIN is needed since the virtual card used in AndroidPay doesn’t have a PIN?
The type of transaction is different - mobile payments use a standard called CDCVM, which doesn’t have a payment limit or a pin, as the device it’s initiated from has already authenticated the user and is considered secure.
It should work anywhere that the standards are adhered to… of course that doesn’t guarantee it’ll work in Spain but I’d be surprised if it didn’t.
You would be able use in Spain just as in UK as @TonyHoyle explained contactless payments use slightly different authorisation protocol
In theory but not perhaps in practice.
Google blog post above has all the details how and where this can be used.
