Ye I read the blog before posting. Still could’t really understand the hype I have been witnessing compared to the features it offers.
Don’t get me wrong, I will probably use it from time to time. As bob said it is pretty useful for when you have forgotten your wallet, but I reckon its more common for me to have no battery on my phone than it is for me to not have my wallet. Anyways, cheers for the info.

Anyways, good news for Android. So far everything Monzo has been first on an iPhone so its nice to see some healthy competition.
Fingers crossed Monzo get through the whole Apple Pay process smoothly and we can soon join in
We already have Apple Pay for topping up / Monzo Me, so it’s not as if Apple Pay is nowhere around Monzo yet.
Just tried out Android Pay + Monzo, worked flawlessly.
Talking about feature parity, does anyone know if the Monzo iPhone app has a daily budget setting feature? The Android one doesn’t atleast.

Agreed! Not used them yet, waiting for a sensible month where I haven’t moved in house for it suggest realistic targets.

A question I had about android pay is, if you pay with it, the merchant gets a virtual card number, then often if you want to return the item etc sometimes they ask you for the card that you paid with but you can’t show them anything? Has anyone had this problem?
Also the double notification from android pay and monzo is annoying, please give an option like starling to stop notifications from android pay transactions.
Refunds can be done on Android Pay just as payments. You will. Just have to hold/wave your phone to the terminal just as you were paying.

Simply put my opinion Apple is best. Nothing else to be said on the matter.
It’s my opinion and frankly don’t care if others don’t agree.
Shame Monzo don’t follow my beliefs hopefully as a forward thinking organisation they will resolve Apple Pay sooner than my predicted 2018 release.
Rather than adding any more poor, unhelpful and antagonistic contributions to the discussion, I emplore other users to not start another iOS vs Android tirade.
As an iPhone user, I’m delighted that Monzo has launched Android Pay. What a huge step forward!

For now, consider Android Pay a sort of apology for our slowness in bringing the Android app up to parity over the last year.
This can be done in the Android Pay app by tapping the overflow menu (three dots in the top right), tapping settings, then unchecking payment notifications.

Then it’s just a matter of un-ticking the notifications
That’s how I use AP, Monzo gives me all the notification I need
Call me paranoid but i’m keeping both on for a bit just in case something goes wrong
Having done a couple of refunds so far using Android Pay, when they asked for the card I used, I’ve just said I used my phone, then they’ve set the card machine up for the refund I’ve placed the phone by the card reader just like making a purchase, and it’ll beep/animation to show it’s been read correctly.
There’s no notification of the refund from the Android Pay app, as there’s no authorisation step. The transaction is simply presented at the later stage. So a few days later the refund appears in the account.
