Why are Monzo charging me £5 for anew card? With the one I have, all the info has rubbed off the back because the quality of the printing is so poor, I don’t see why I should pay because their card doesn’t stand up to regular use?
Is it standard to have this charge, as my understanding was they’d give you a replacement but if you kept losing your card you’d eventually have to pay?
Never been charged for a poor quality replacement card.

Whilst someone shouldn’t have to pay for a card that can’t withstand regular use they would be better off stating their card has been stolen. They shouldn’t have to resort to that though.
I believe they’re trying to argue that the OP doesn’t need to replace their card, because the numbers are worn off, due to the fact they can be viewed in app.
I’m saying that according to the Monzo T&C’s, they don’t cover this under their free replacement criteria.
Then someone said that it should withstand normal use (seeing the card details on the back), which I said is actually viewable through the app, so it’s not really that much of an issue. Yes it shouldn’t rub off, but neither is is a massive issue. It’s actually a benefit in terms of security…
OP can replace their card, but they’re gonna be charged for it due to what the T&C’s Monzo has made say.
Might as well just say get rid of physical cards (some people need them or prefer them), the app has the details what more does anyone need in the world.
a) Card collecting
b) Card collecting
c) Card packaging collecting
Cash withdrawals could actually be done through Apple/Google Pay if all banks added contactless things to ATM’s. For now debit cards aren’t going away though.
I mean I have two folders full of cards. But when I think “why might cards be needed” I can think of many reasons before “card collecting” and “packaging” come up.
