And I’ve just updated to Android 9
If it’s not rooted, then there’s lots of reasons why it might not work. Unfortunately they’re not as easy to fix. Perhaps try removing and readding the card to Google Pay?
Ok thanks I’ve tried that few time because I have 7 lots of £1.00 of Google transactions on my feed
Hmm. Might be a problem with the update and Samsung devices then. Does the Google Play store say your device is certified in settings?
Are you in the beta or had the full update?
If you have had the full update, it should show as certified after a reboot
Could you explain what it means by certified I’m sorry im no expert when it comes to phones? Beta??
Certification (as referred to at the bottom of settings in the Google Play Store as “Play Protect certification”), mentions whether your device has been licensed by Google. To do certain actions, such as use contactless payments, your device must be certified.
@GarethTheNerd is asking whether you have ever run / are running Samsung ‘beta’ firmware. This means something which isn’t ready for release to everyone yet, so Samsung tests it with a small number of people first. You’d know if you were in this group, as you’d have to install it manually.
Have you tried rebooting your phone since it stopped being able to pay for things?
Thank you. Its saying not verified. Also I manually updated it earlier. This is a second hand S8 I’m using from my mate. He has informend me that he has been using it for Google pay before I brought it and re set it up from scratch.
When it reboots, does it say anything about being insecure or ‘unlocked’?
Neither
@bjw3232 bjw3232If you download this app: SafetyNet Test does your device pass all the safyetnet checks?
The issue is the device is “not verified” that would suggest somethings been done to it, such as a custom rom flashed, or the device has been rooted. It’s trying to work out what exactly.
However as mentioned you usually need to unlock the devices bootloader to do this, which does display a warning on screen when you turn the phone on or reboot it.
Thanks. I have no idea. My friend says to me before I brought it Google Pay was working before he re set it for me
Downloaded the safety net test and failed
Flashing the stock Samsung firmware on the device would probably resolve the issue as everything will be 100% untouched, like the device had just come out the factory.
Samsung phones seem to have so many minor variants I wouldn’t want to directly link you to anything showing how to do this, however I suspect you’d be able to get the most current information by asking on the XDA Developers Galaxy S8 forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8
