Would you like to save these bank details?

I’d like to see a phone–like interface for incoming payments from friends.

There is a lot of room for mistakes in noting down the sort codes and account numbers of friends, with possible loss of funds as the outcome. So when one sends me money into my :monzo: Monzo account, I’d like the app to ask if I need these details saved automatically, perhaps linked to my contact data for them within the app.

And I’ve said before, Starling’s approach to amalgamating numerous accounts under one person’s profile is a great idea too.

Definitely agree - such an approach would be great. I don’t know of any bank that allows you to save the details from incoming payments - this is a no-brainer, and would make things a lot easier.

If someone pays you by bank transfer, you can go into the transaction and send money to them from there. Does that help?

Yeah, I’m aware of that - but you actually have to ifind a transaction (granted , it’s not very difficult) to actually do this. I think what the OP was referring to is that this “saving” could hopefully be linked to “permanent payees” functionality in the future.

I didn’t actually know this. This is already better than a lot of bank apps.

But it would be good for Monzo to quietly build up a list of payees (verified by their incoming payments to me) in one place – the Payments tab.

I was just about to ask support if I was missing something as I sort of figured this feature would already be there since it showed me the incoming payment sender’s bank details and enabled me to send them a payment, but not save them as a contact. Would be superb if you could and potentially it could build on top of Android / Apple contact interface so that data would be saved outside Monzo as well and used in other apps.

I’m starting to understand why WeChat etc are so popular for sending money because it’s just integrated with your contact list.

It’s on our radar
