Wiki: Bank Logos In Monzo

On the payments screen the Monzo app has some lovely little icons showing which bank the account details are related to… Except when they don’t. :frowning:

Let’s use this wiki to crowdsource the banks that are missing or wrong:

Missing

  • Atom (04-40-01)
  • Bank of Ireland (sort code ranges: 90-xx-xx and 94-xx-xx, e.g. 90-20-71)
  • Chase (60-84-07)
  • Danske Bank (sort code ranges: 91-xx-xx and 95-xx-xx)
  • Marcus (sort code: 40-64-37)
  • Nottingham Building Society (sort code: 60-95-93)
  • NS&I (sort code: 08-31-05)
  • Revolut (sort code: 04-00-75)
  • Triodos (sort code: 16-58-10)
  • Virgin Money (sort code ranges: 04-00-79, 04-00-80, 08-60-64, 05-xx-xx, 82-xx-xx)
  • Ulster Bank (sort code range: 98-xx-xx, main branch: 98-00-60)
  • Unity Trust Bank (sort code: 60-83-01)
  • Wirex (sort code: 60-83-84)
  • Zopa (60-84-00)
  • Cashplus (08-71-99)
  • Post Office Money Savings (90-78-68 - savings, provided by Bank of Ireland UK, but sort code unique to Post Office so should use their logo)
  • Kroo Bank (04-07-09)
  • Hampshire Trust Bank (23-62-47)
  • Tred (04-06-80)

Potentially confusing - may be better to use a generic logo

  • Lloyds Banking Group credit card payments (sort code: 77-29-00) - shows the Lloyds Bank logo.
    Confusing as this sort code is actually a Lloyds Bank sort code but is shared as a collection account for all credit card payments with Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland & MBNA
  • Principality Building Society (20-18-23) - shows as Barclays. This might be the correspondent bank for the building society but if the logo can’t be corrected it might be better not to have one to avoid confusion.
  • Charity Bank (60-21-28) - shows as NatWest. Appears to be used as a correspondent bank.
  • Gatehouse Bank (20-32-53) - shows as Barclays. Appears to be used as a correspondent bank.

Wrong - logo needs changing/adding

  • First Direct (sort code range: 40-47-58 to 40-47-87) - shows HSBC logo. Shares the HSBC banking licence but confusing / incorrect.
  • M&S Bank (sort code range: 40-12-54 to 40-12-57 and 23-56-14) - shows HSBC logo. Legally separate to HSBC’s banking licence but part of the HSBC Group - the logo is confusing / incorrect.
  • Smile (sort code range: 08-92-86 to 08-92-89) - shows as the Cooperative Bank. Shares the parent bank’s banking licence, but as with First Direct the branding is separate.

Any chance that Monzo might add some of the missing bank account logos for the payments screen?

This was mentioned when they ‘redesigned’ the payee management just before Xmas. Monzo were aware that some logos are missing from the likes of Marcus etc. This is evident from the tread related to payee management.

Unfortunately, the payee management isn’t 100% completed, so fingers crossed this is resolved when it gets looked at again.

Any chance of someone adding some of these missing bank account logos on the backend?

Maybe coral crew could turn this thread into a wiki so we cam provide a list of what ones are missing?

In personal experience, Marcus and Dozens are both missing an icon

That looks like a Debit Card transaction rather than a Bank Transfer?

My bank payment to Dozens has no icon and my personal set of payees looks like:

Just bouncing this topic #sorrynotsorry, as whilst testing the “pay merged accounts” functionality I realised my Marcus and N26 (RIP :coffin: ) accounts were still not showing an icon. Tsk.

@arthur-ceccotti perhaps you could be the chosen one to dedicate a monzo time to adding some more entries to the database for us on this :eyes:

The logos are nice, but Monzo’s whole payee details system is in major need of a revamp. I think they could learn a great deal from Starling’s payee management UX, as this thread illustrates.

Does it still show the generic HSBC logo for a first direct sort code?
