Why *haven't* you gone full Monzo?

NHS isn’t an issue you can use ESR online to change the account without issue and then it’s done centrally and immediately rather than waiting for your HR to do it.

What is ESR? We don’t have that

I presume it’s other trusts version of HRPTS

Ah, ok, might just be England and Wales NHS

Edit:

You’re right only for England and Wales. Didn’t think of the other countries

NI NHS is separate from England and Wales NHS. We are both part of the nhs and not. Schrodingers health care

You make a good point  I wasn’t saying that you were picky, I just havent heard anyone mention that as a reason before and there have been some crazy ones in the past

In the grand scheme of things if that’s important to you then that’s cool :+1: Hopefully merchant data gets some TLC soon so you can experience all the wonders of being full Monzo :crossed_fingers:

He’s tried contacting HR before, about something else, and it was a shambles. Once bitten, twice shy in the case of my partner :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you, that’s good to know. I’ll pass the message on :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, I think the point I was making in using NHS as an example could be that some people who work for very large (don’t know the finance man/woman personally) companies, with outsourced HR or HR dept in another office, at the other end of the country, may be wary of switching wages from one account to another. Just a thought as to why full Monzo might not be happening for some.

That has to be the most stupid reason I have ever heard for not switch banks :man_facepalming:

Probably worth mentioning here that there is no England and Wales NHS. There’s NHS Wales and NHS England, but they are as legally separate as NI is.

We use this to check payslip and change any bank details . Have been using full Monzo for 2 years. No problem noted with any NHS trust. Changed 3 trust now

So I started a live chat to try and get that one particular transaction’s merchant data jumped up the queue and corrected.

They didn’t seem bothered at all, just said submit it in-app and it’ll get updated at some point. Kind of annoying as my app is basically saying I’ve spent money somewhere that I haven’t - that’s a pretty major problem I reckon.

It’s not like just a missing logo or wrong address. I only confirmed that it’s a legit transaction because I looked at the merchant data at the bottom and compared it to when I’d spent there with my Nationwide account. It’s a known place.

Wonder what would happen if it was somewhere I’d never been to before and I didn’t know it was legit.

I see from Monzos point why they might be dismissive.

If it will be updated at some point and you know you made the transaction, is it a problem until it shows the correct merchant? Don’t get me wrong it would annoy me too.

If it wasn’t a legit transaction they would be freezing your card, and sending you a new one for starters.

Also live chat isn’t live, it’s more like WhatsApp with “that person” who might reply straighaway or in a days time when they get round to it.

But I agree the whole merchant data needs an overhaul. Like it should be possible to also see if other customers have submitted a request for it to be corrected so you aren’t wasting your time filling in data when its already in the queue to be updated. Or have it so enough people vote on the correct replacement then it gets set. We are pretty much using the same system as when Mondo launched.

I had this issue the other day, in Bournemouth you can only pay for car parks via app or contactless. I paid via app like I always do and somehow the merchant now displays as ‘National Windscreens’ which is completely wrong, and never use to be this, I’ve submitted a correction but know from the forums that these seem to take years so I just made a note on the transaction for now in case i forget what it actually was.

If I hadn’t known it was legit, then I’d have had my card cancelled and would had no access for days for no reason - only to then find out it was Monzo’s merchant info at fault.

If you’re not at a known place, you don’t get the notification for some reason… It could cause all sorts of issues.

It does knock your confidence in Monzo. Why not just delete the merchant data for that place? That would be a quick and dirty fix. Then fix it properly when it’s reached the top of the queue.

I live near Bournemouth, I go there quite a lot. If I go full Monzo then I’ll end up with Shell that’s not Shell and Auto Windscreens that’s actually a car park. Pretty shoddy.

Well Monzo is essentially making its own database of merchant info to accompany what gets sent through in the transaction data which is often a mess. Its sometimes going to get this wrong, which is why you can always suggest the correct merchant in the app. It is improving massively each day Monzo is used and the more people help correct it, it then helps future customers of that merchant.

I would have thought they don’t bump requests up the queue as everyone wants theirs done first if they could. Maybe if on the submit page it said tick this box if the merchant is wrong so that queue gets precedence over trival logo/name updates.

The problem is that if you submit a correction it takes ages to get corrected, if it ever happens, then someone else submits incorrect data and Monzo accept it.

Yh it’s not great. My biggest issue having read through the various threads on here is that it feels like there isn’t anybody actively working through the list of corrections, and the longer it builds up the longer it’ll take. Doesn’t seem to be very important to Monzo anymore but i’m starting to get that feeling with a new features now, Monzo launch a feature then it gets forgotten about for a long long time, i’m sure they’ll eventually circle back around to merchants, i guess the question is when.
