And no video of how internal testers give it a go at Pret?
Calm down everyone, itās not Apple Pay
Monzo donāt know how to support Apple Pay hence not releasing it, they are speaking to Starling to see how they did it and see if they can use their systems instead
They did it by using a previously certified card processor, hence it took them a short amount of time in relative terms.
Danny knows this heās just joking around as usual regarding apple pay
@anon77363772 Hence troll face
As a reminder, Apple Pay is something we would love to offer but at this time, we have no news to share.
We know you know something
Hey all
It looks like this thread is getting a bit out of hand. So this is a friendly reminder to stay on topic and avoid derailing things. Iāll remove some of the recent posts that arenāt adding to the discussion.
A few folks have asked if weād lock this thread. I donāt think thatād be helpful, Iām sure it would just spawn discussion elsewhere in the community. And Iād rather keep it all in one tidy place
We totally understand your frustration here. Weād just ask you to bear with us until we have news to share. Until then, this previous post from Simon sums it up perfectly:
Thanks!
I would say it was breakdown coming next from the bottom of the phone display in the picture

Surely they wouldnāt make a big deal of hashtagsā¦
Who cares?
It would make your transactions easily searchable, making it easy to track custom payments.
Not something I am bothered about, but I can see why it would be useful.
Can this not be achieved without the hashtag already?
In a less smooth format and less intuitive way I think.
Also is a good (easy to implement, easy to use) way to be able to learn what people use and base decisions for future spending improvements from that. Notes are less useful for this purpose, as I would assume people put longer form specific notes to themselves in.
Not sure if there are other benefits or not.
Fair enough
Donāt understand the use but there we go
For me as much as I want and miss Apple Pay (and find it more convenient to transfer money to other accounts from Monzo to use it than to go without), the biggest thing for me is that the supposed ābank of the futureā doesnāt support something high street banks have supported for close to three years at this point.
If Monzo was positioning it as banking done better or something to that effect it wouldnāt feel as severe, the efforts to build a sense of control and feeling of financial stability are exceptional. Iād expect for the majority of people vocal about the lack of Apple Pay support (and certainly for myself) the fact that something that is a few years old at this point isnāt supported doesnāt feel particularly futuristic, as Tristanās closing comments above support.
Compounding that is the almost complete radio silence on the matter. That quote above is two years old and it seems thereās been less said as time progresses.
Apple Pay remains something we would love to offer but at this time, we continue to have no news to share
Weāve nothing to share on Apple Pay, but we promise we to shout from the rooftops if this changes
Given another of Monzoās key differentials from your usual high street bank is transparency, it again feels like the activity of Monzo around the topic has been contrary to how the company has been selling itself to customers. Of course thereās speculation that this lack of disclosure is a result of some NDA forced on Monzo by Apple, but regardless it just doesnāt land well.
When you factor in that (the much, unfairly, ridiculed) Starling has been offering it for around half a year at this point, it raises further questions about what priority it is versus other features that are coming out that arenāt as enticing for a lot of users. In this priority case not everyone realises that these features are coming out the door because of the lack of reliance on (a) third party(/ies).
Iām pretty much full Monzo (salary into Monzo), but it is frustrating and the more time passes without Apple Pay, the more Iām willing to attempt full Starling or similar, incase there are alternative banks that better cater to the features I consider the most important.
I think this is the most concrete evidence so far:

I guess we just donāt know how soon is āpretty soonā
Have they announced what this was yet?
Iām sure they said to be revealed next day on Twitterā¦
Probably tags, they seem to be there in the android beta in some form. They arenāt anything to write home about right now⦠Yolt and Emma do it better ATM⦠That may change with the breakdown changes
Good grief if the special announcement is hashtags, Iāll be devastated.
