I mean if you were keeping nearly £300,000 in your current account then you would literally have more money than sense right?
And if I were ‘rich’ then I don’t think I’d have loads of time to spend with family, I’d be too busy earning the money and probably being super stressed about it.
I wondered how to respond to this, do i make a joke about some random income? Do I talk about the time I spend with my family and that money isn’t everything?
But based on follow up posts as well as the OP, i think the most efficient response is
I’m an accountant and earn good money. But the Mrs is at home with the kids so although we’re comfortable we’re definitely not living the life of Riley.
That said, it’s enough that I (am fortunate enough to be able to) value time with my family over a bigger payday.
I’m just as desperate for validation as everybody else
Yeah, money is nice but it’s a means to an end, if your job meets your needs then you’re doing very well! I’m about to take a pay cut for a more fulfilling job because the more money I earn the less I realise it matters: as long as I have financial security then my financial needs are met and I can make decisions based on other things that matter to me, like being fulfilled by what I do.
