What films do you recommend?

Just watching Triangle on My5

I had this on DVD years back (for any youngsters it’s s circle disk which you put in a machine to play it). In fact do they still sell them, I’ve not looked in years

Isn’t that the one which replays sequences from different perspectives as the plot develops?

Plays from one of the actors perspective kinda stuck in a loop.

Yep, that’s the one. Most unusual.

I’ve watched all the Jurassic Park films again over the last couple of days. Just on Fallen Kingdom as I type this. Can’t wait for the next one at the cinema when it’s released.

Took the kids to see it yesterday and really enjoyed it. Maybe it’s just the current political climate but wouldn’t it be great to have some trust and unity?

Likewise! I’ve been going through a bit of a Jurassic park phase over the last few weeks too! Rewatched all the films, finally completed the evolution game. Can’t wait for the next one. Hope covid life is much improved by the time it rolls around, because the Jurassic films are the sort I have to see in the cinema, day one. Would require a weekend staycation somewhere in Scotland that has a cinema, but will be worth it!

I’ve also been through a Pirates of the Caribbean phase again recently. I must watch these films at least twice a year at this point.

Oh, I love Jurassic Park - if you want more content there is a Netflix series, it’s for teens really, but it’s good

We were talking about foreign film recommendations today and one that has stuck with me for ages is the film A Prophet. A French prison crime drama which has huge Goodfellas vibes but more brutal.

Watched all that too!

Quite mature and grown up for a kids show, though still a kids and suffers from the usual kid show tropes. If you can overlook those, it’s a really good show!

Agreed. the animation quality really wasn’t bad

This weekend has mainly been Star Trek films, Film4 have been showing them all. In a rush to get through them as only on demand for 7 days.

Edge of Tomorrow.

Been on my list for ages and grabbed it this week in an iTunes sale.

Very highly recommended.

Is that the Tom cruise alien time travel thingy one?

Edge of Tomorrow is a cracking film.

On the subject of time travel, anyone here watched Primer? OMG, such an opposite to the Hollywood blockbuster but shot in a unique way, with such a unique story, it really shows time travel as it would probably appear to the people discovering it.

Terrible title, though. I much prefer the one given to the DVD release, Live Die Repeat. That gets the theme much better.

You’ve sold me on this! Will now watch it.

Remaining on a time travel-esque topic, tenet is equally excellent for similar reasons. Not quite time travel though, but rather a unique spin on it with the concept of time inversion. It’s a very clever film. Takes some serious brain power to properly wrap you’re head around it.

That seems to be a common opinion but I disagree. It’s far too literal whereas the actual title captures the feeling of trying to succeed more (IMHO).
