We're working on a new look for the Monzo app

Love this, this is exactly what I envision… but then again it’s only because I have a few pots… maybe one or two at a time

My SO that has 6 or 7 prefers the new look

How do I see the total amount in my account including all pots? It used to be on the account screen, but this tab been replaced.

( Sorry if it’s been mentioned before. )

I think the feature of picking up these details is very handy. I hate the way they are handled. I get money frequently via PayPal and it annoys me it gets into my frequent listing

View all top left hand corner.

Should say on the top bar of that page.

Thanks. Although View All is top right on my version. Clicking that shows this

For reference, this is what the Activity screen shows at the moment

How odd. They’re on opposite sides. I assume you’re on iOS?

Yeah I’m on iOS. Just updated the app as well. I think the new design is a lot better in most areas, just seems like a small detail that’s fell between the gaps on the iOS version.

So does the Android version still show the total in the new design?

@bruno Do you think we could get some sort of refresh button, as you can’t pull down to refresh now?

Was that ever a really thing within the monzo app? I thought it was just the list was spring loaded.

I am waiting for this to come back too.
Mainly because I use You Need A Budget (YNAB) and don’t want to have to set up each pot as a separate account.
I know I could add it up I just don’t want to have to  At the moment YNAB tells me how much money I have in Monzo and I can reconcile it easily.

How have you got all your cards in your central thing? i.e. joint and personal?

The issue with treating “most recent” payees in the same way as texts (or WhatsApp messages etc…) is that it’s common to have payees which you regularly receive money from, but you don’t send any money back yourself (eg: salary paid via Faster Payments). If you receive loads of texts from a number which you never text back, you’d probably block the number.

My thought process is this:

  • If you are going to the Payment’ tab to pay another person, you are more likely to need to pay a person you pay more often. Therefore, it makes sense to show a list of the people you pay more often since you’re more likely to be looking for them (ie: the Frequent section). Statistically, the Frequent section will be useful the most number of times for most people so it makes sense it should be kept.

  • The Recent section is useful too because it’s an easy way to find people who you have transferred money with recently. It’s also useful for finding payee details without having to scroll back through the feed if you can’t use search because you can’t remember exactly what the payee was called.

The magic of photoshop - they’re mock-ups based on edited screenshots of the new Home layout

Oh that is definitely how they should be done! That is a lot nicer. Great designs!

Love the new look! On the home page rather than scroll down to see my card (which I hardly ever need to look at) would be great to scroll down and see my pots so I know every penny I’ve got on the homepage. Great that the summary is now back :raised_hands:t2:

Or even better you get to choose what you want there in the settings somewhere

There are so many bugs!
It merges my personal and joint account transactions

That’s the joy of beta testing! You get to help squish the bugs before the app goes live to the masses.

I feel like your design is definitely the way forward for the app. Even as a first time visitor to the app you can see there are other cards/accounts that you can get to right from the home screen. It’s intuitive.

I’d be really surprised if that design wasn’t already being discussed. I’d love to know why Monzo wouldn’t/couldn’t implement it.
