We're working on a new look for the Monzo app

Is this for all Android Beta testers or just ones who’ve signed up for the new look?

Hi @kavi, without sounding like a broken record on this thread but just wondering if the pots not updating issue is one you are looking into?

Also again great job with this guys, loving this new look and feels so fesh!

Android user reporting in!

I’m using the beta version of the app and I registered for the new layout. After downloading todays app update I can confirm that I now have this :tada:

The update is now live on the store. Might need to clear the store/Monzo cache and force quit to see it sooner.

Looks really really good!

I like the way the date “sticks” to the top of the screen when scrolling down. It looks a lot more sleek than the previous version.

My only niggle is the “11% left of £595 budget”. My preference would be for the actual monetary value rather than percentage. And maybe have a little vertical bar that moves from right to left as the budget period progresses like with the category budgets on the summary screen.

Edit: and I think this is one of the first app screenshots I’ve not had to obscure due to sensitive personal data being there :innocent:

Ok so my feedback:

  • ‘View all’ button in the top left doesn’t make sense. Needs renaming.
  • Don’t like that there are now even more taps to switch to my joint account. On top of the switcher that went in a few months ago.
  • Following on from above. When you switch accounts you’re shown the ‘pots screen’ and not the account home screen. So I have to make another tap to see my account overview.
  • Don’t like that the ‘left to spend’ bar is sticky when scrolling. It doesn’t change as you go back over your history so it seems a little irrelevant.

Other than that, I like it  Nice, clean and organised

Just got it on Android and restarted it to make the tab bar at the bottom sort itself out.
Initial feedback:

  • The card feels like it should grow and shrink when you reveal/cover it - feels way too static at the moment
  • Looking forward to a tap/swipe on the card (visually looking stacked to start with?) to change account/card/pot, as mentioned further up this thread. Agree that “View all” doesn’t make sense
  • Is it possible to remove the “left to spend” bar? Risks being the new “remove the pulse”. All my budgets are disabled inside, but it still is there, always on screen, and indeed doesn’t scroll off with the rest of the feed
  • I feel the search icon/button would benefit from being beside the drawer grab line, takes up too much space as it is now
  • Android status bar colour is still set to dark blue, despite the header now being light grey

Otherwise, nice work!

The answer is no :unamused:

That’s the only thing that initially stopped me signing up to test this, but then when the Monzo staff said the Android build has the widget and summary screen I jumped in feet first :star_struck:

Downloaded the update from the play store (I’m a beta tester and signed the form) but still don’t see the new design. Guessing my email hasn’t been added to the opt in list. (Have forced closed)

Waiting is not my strong point lol

Love the new design so far.

Only thing from me is there’s too much white space at the top near search and today.

Was all those threats that you’d jump ship so they specifically installed it for you didn’t they!?:rofl:

It looks SOOO much nicer than the weird ring we used to have.

Shhhhhh

Does look like this could all be compressed somewhat. Like most of the people complaining about the pulse graph were saying it took up too much space, and this now takes at least half the screen!

Agree with this, It’d make more sense if when you clicked the search icon you could input your search to the left of it, but even still it feels like a real waste of space at the moment. I think I preferred the old floating search button here?

Am very much liking the new design overall. One thing for me Is I think the ‘left to spend’ figure is too small and not clear enough. Struggle a bit to read it when for me it is much more important than the large figure at the top.

Android first thoughts:

  • Left to spend progress bar is really good and much better than the dial because it gives the necessary information - amount and date
  • I like that the left to spend bar is fixed to the top of the screen when scrolling.
  • As others have said “view all” doesnt really say what it does. Lets call this what it is - Accounts/pots
  • Clicking my profile picture taking me to the account screen seems like a logical step and works. Its position is where other apps tend to have that functionality so is easy to get to.
  • Happy that spent today has gone. Doesn’t work when you have direct debits etc coming out.

For a future idea I would like to see be able to scroll further into the future to see predicted transactions and what the anticipated live balance would be.
Also as others have said I’d like to be able to see my total in all pots on the home screen. Not too big but perhaps at the very top in smaller font size above the personal account balance.

One question - what will the alarm/notification icon be used for? What things should I expect to see in there?

I agree. But I’m just thankful it’s there

The text could be a smaller size and maybe not SHOUTY CAPITALS!

Am really liking the new interface; everything is very easy to find despite the interface being a completely different layout.

So far so good!
