Yeah, I will say the colour scheme and spacing are preferable to the old layout and it does seem more “clean” which I like.

What I don’t like, and quite a number of others here have also alluded to, is the number of features that have been rammed onto the home screen.

The cards/pots at the top don’t make much sense. It’s a very convoluted and annoying way of viewing the balances of accounts/pots, the old way (and long established UI practice) of simply having them listed and all there to view was, in my view, much better.

I also don’t see the need for card options to be on the homepage at all. It’s very rare that you’ll need to freeze your card or check your pin. Having them on their own page and out of the way made more sense.

As another commenter said, it feels like the old account, summary and home tabs have been hastily condensed into a single page, not for the user experience, but simply to reduce the number of pages.

Yeah, I feel the navigation on the new layout is very poor.

On the old one at least everything was siloed into defined and structured pages so you’d have a good guess of where everything was.

With the new navigation it’s not very clear where something will be, and it’s not always clear how to get there.

I think the major problem is that it doesn’t follow the usual UI practices that we’re familiar with other apps or software.

Well there will always be as many opinions as users!

Personally I think the revision to the tab model is a brilliant solution in advance for how new functionality, accounts and imported data can be brought into the app - I see no better solution to this in any of the other half dozen banking apps I have seen of late

I do occasionally find it a little tricky to select the part of the top of the screen required for moving left and right through the tabs, but have faith in this being something that will continue to evolve

But when you do need them, they need to be in an obvious place

I don’t think it’s fair to say they haven’t taken on board feedback - there have been quite a few iterations and refinements driven by this thread.

The reality is that design is subjective. Some will like it, others won’t. At some point they have to bite the bullet and roll it out.

Sure, but I don’t think the home screen is that place.

I’d rather make one or two extra taps to freeze my card, than have to scroll past them every time I use the app to see my transactions.

The problem then is people see a fraudulent payment and panic and go to chat rather then looking. That could let more transactions through. And freeze etc was under the card on the old nav

Where do you think the best place would be?

Any updates whether this test flight app will work on iOS 13 since the GM version is released and I would like to update my phone to iOS 13. I just don’t want to crash my Monzo app since it is my main banking app. @bruno @Rat_au_van

The only issue i have seen from ios 13 users was the getting paid early feature and that has been sorted now

Time to update then  Haha

Do you know if there’s any chance of getting some official Hot Chip themed pot images? :eyes:

Here’s a link to some amazing unofficial Hot Chip themed images that were made for pots.

I honestly feel it would be better on another tab like before. Split what’s been put onto the home screen back into two separate tabs. Make it easier to navigate.

  • Home tab- Balance, brief account summary and transaction history
  • Account tab - Pots/accounts, card features (freeze etc.) and overdraft management
  • Payments tab - Handle incoming, outgoing and scheduled payments
  • Help tab - Help and support (help could probably be relegated to an icon in the top right/left, or the drop down menu)

From a usability and UI standpoint it makes more sense to categorize features into smaller groups that are more easily navigable and easy to view at a glance, rather than have all of them on one single page.

What we’ve got at the moment is the majority of features crammed onto one page, with a few odd bits up in the drop down. There doesn’t seem to be any real theme for where something is located, which is why I think there’s a few people saying how hard it is to navigate the new layout.

Yep, I love the unofficial ones and use some of them for a few of my pots, but would be nice to have some official ones in the mix too

They look better than the official ones

Full credit to @ashleymoat for the images - fantastic work!

What happens if you have and used multiple accounts? Which transactions go onto the Home tab?

Did you do this one @ashleymoat?

It looks like your style? (Also it’s hilarious!).

My favourite thing about Monzo is the pots. I split my residual every month into different pots as a way to budget - eg £200 on food. So, if I’m in a shop and need to move money out of my pot, I need this experience to be quick & easy. Withdraw & add from pots should be prominent and easily accessible but I feel like this isn’t the case right now. This may seem like a small thing, but I feel this is also the case with other areas of Monzo. There’s a lot of noise and the primary actions don’t stand out. Ps I do love it though!!
