Both - the amount left for month updates in both as well - just not the amount left
A good question to ask is how frequent the actions you’re saving this gesture for are. Navigation between accounts is a very frequent and important action. Feed item actions will probably be less frequent and important.
That’s fair feedback. We don’t have anything planned in the short term for that interaction, so it’s difficult to say if it would be more or less frequently used than switching accounts. I guess it’s something to revisit in the future ![]()
You will need to create a user guide if you implement any more gestures! ![]()
In the future we might want to make use of this gesture for other stuff, like snoozing feed items etc. That’s why we’re avoiding using this interaction for navigation for now.
Do those have to be mutually exclusive? Maybe I’m not understanding right, but in, for example, Facebook messenger, you can do ‘macro’ swipes on the overall scree and switch screens to your friends list and other screens, but you can also swipe on a small ‘feed item’ (a message) and have that affect just the message. It’s very intuitive and iOS-like.
I really like the new design! I’m enjoying it so far. I would recommend making the budget bar on the main screen a little more informative by adding a line that indicates where we should be (similar to the line in the circle when you go into the budgeting tool)
So true. The new nav just doesn’t feel very iOS-like at all.
Hi @57n, are you using iOS?
That little line/notch is there now for Android and will come as part of parity before the full launch
Hmm not very intuitive or useful - something that I’m afraid the new design reeks of and judging by some detailed responses so far I’m not alone!
Ah thank god found it in Monzo Labs so I’m back to the production interface - for those of us with joint as well as personal accounts with multiple pots this is where I’ll stay as it’s much more intuitive and easy to navigate than the new interface!
Ah sorry I should’ve said, I’m on iOS! Thanks for the info, that’s awesome
I have a very simple setup, one current account and one pot. I like the animations, focus on gestures and the overall visually lighter direction. The way we scroll through the statement is tight. However, it’s not perfect:
-
there are far too many settings screens. There should only be one.
-
the home button is confusing, pressing it twice to get different views is a weird anti pattern. I’m a fan of the swipe down gesture to get back to what I believe is the proper home. I.e a simple list of my accounts.
-
the proper home screen (where it lists my accounts and my profile photo at the top) seems far too Sales-ey for what I think my banks home screen should be. I understand Monzo has a number of bolt-ons now but I feel like I’m being sold a whole bunch of products I don’t need or care about. I’m cool with the odd upsell in relevant places but it feels like they’re being shoved in my face when all I want to do is view my account and pot balances quickly. For example, there are multiple links to overdrafts in different places on the same screen. Then again in my statement view. Also, I don’t care about the gimmicky next steps feature nor the switch to Monzo button, I’ve already switched!!! The proper home screen needs de-cluttering and would look far simpler stripped back. It could even free up space for other features that other people have already mentioned (pulse etc)
-
this one is purely cosmetic. I’m on Android Pixel 3 and have to say the thing I hate about Android is the background colour behind the phones system and notification icons (battery status, signal strength etc) when it could just match the background colour underneath. In the new Monzo design it should just be white to blend in with the info below. Please remove this ugly off white background, the Freetrade app has done this and makes the UI so much cleaner and looks great. Monzo could borrow a thing or two from that Freetrade app design.
I doubt this will be read given how many comments there are already but had to air my thoughts.
I think there have been a few negative comments about this redesign but the fact we can share our opinion on it and help shape it makes me love this bank. Keep up the good work.
Any word of re-enabling the new look on monzo labs for us on iOS 10?
iOS 10 users can use new nav again![]()
Thought it had ?
Have you updated the app?
G’day, just doing the Full Monzo, sounds so Australian, anyway, a request please kind sirs.
I was perusing my list of Direct Debits which pinged in this morning and I note there is nothing to say how much each is, or the dates when they will next be taken.
Can you please do something about this please, I like to know where I stand at any particular point in the month.
Many thanks and kind regard
Kev.
When they are taken, the predicted amount and dates will start to show. For new direct debits Monzo have no information about them.
@bruno Is it possible to add a total amount here for when you have upcoming payments coming out,
like I have in 3 days - Would be really helpful!Definitely this. I am sitting here with a calculator right now for my payments coming out on Monday.
