We're working on a new look for the Monzo app

Not quite a calendar view but you can see scheduled DDs and SOs by going to Payments -> Schedule here are mine:

Also if you haven’t set a budget you should have a “left to spend” figure which is your Balance MINUS your committed spend (DDs and SOs) - I don’t think pot movements count as committed spend

Thank you! Oh my god how difficult they’ve made it to find it!

The grey boxes around the Accounts/pots on the profile/accounts page of 2.58 are :nauseated_face:

Annoyingly (on Android) the Payments screen is split into 2 - the top section is sheduled payments and the bottom is D/D’s

The top section is listed in ascending date order, so you can see the next scheduled payment(s) to be made and as you go down the list, you are looking further into the future.
However, the D/D section is listed alphabetically, so the dates are all over the place.

I’d REALLY like the ‘Subscriptions & Direct Debits’ section to be;

  • Listed in ascending date order, like the ‘Scheduled payments & standing orders’ section- or even better;
  • Listed together with the top section, all in ascending date order and called ‘Scheduled payments, Direct Debits & standing orders’

Yeh it was luck that I found it. Half the time the blue pill isn’t visible, except when the tray is pulled all the way down. Bizarre to have statements hidden in this way. Maybe statements should be under the card in a blue circle or perhaps in the View All area.

I still don’t get why there isn’t a hamburger menu with an option to select things like ‘statements’.

probably because hamburger menus have been tested repeatedly with very poor results. User testing has been done so much on hamburgers and im sure Monzo have done their own too, always with poor results. There’s loads of info online about it! https://medium.muz.li/3-good-reason-why-you-might-want-to-remove-that-hamburger-menu-from-your-product-69b9499ba7e2

Totally agree. Hamburger menu’s offer poor UX.

And yet nearly every app on my phone uses one…

As do the forums here…

Nearly everyone I know has a hat. I don’t have a hat though because I know they don’t look good on my head.

Are you suggesting that the hamburger option is worse than hiding things behind several menus and making it difficult to access?

Yes, that is what I’m suggesting. (kinda, what I’m really suggesting is that what you think would be better for you might well not be better for most, and repeatedly asking for something that used to exist and was removed with the reason ‘everyone else does it’ probably won’t get it back. Also all the bad UX stuff we’ve already been over)

Strongly agree. Hamburger menus are lazy and very 2011. It’s just moving the mess from the shed to the garage, instead of actually sorting it.

Hamburger menus are much worse than having buttons in the correct context. Its like shoving everything in a cupboard and expecting people to find it rather than putting it in the obvious place which makes usage intuitive.

But are they better than hats?

Zero time for Hamburger Menu’s. We’ve finally started to moved forward.

All is well now. It’s more difficult to find things now and to navigate the screens, but we have a cool looking app with animations!

OOOoo I can do that to!

Everything would be much better if we took away any thoughtful button and item placement and just cleared out everything on the screen and put it behind a random three line icon, it’s all a massive mess in there but at least everything is in the same place!

On the subject of animations/navigation… I’m not sure about the animation into the card overview - it suggests you’d be able to push the card back up to go back, but of course that just scrolls you down the page… same goes for tapping on your picture - that suggests you can tap again to go back but you can’t. Perhaps I’ll get used to it, but its a tad counterintuitive!
