We're working on a new look for the Monzo app

There are a few that do. In my opinion it looks a lot nicer anyway, but as @rolanddeschain said it also reduces the battery usage of OLED devices

Thanks. In-app chat support have moved me back to standard navigation for now, and my wife is about to do the same.

I just turned it back on and I like it a lot more now the bugged percentage bar has gone. I’m going to keep it activated for a while. :eyes:

I’ve not had any of the reported issues from multiple users.

Software is weird!

What do you mean by this? Chat hasn’t changed.

I think he means support has moved him back to the old layout.

Not sure if it’s been suggested before, but I’ve just turned this on in labs and one thing I’d quite like already is for your transaction list to scroll to the top when you tap the Home icon on the tab bar.

I completely agree, I really dislike dark modes. Link below sums up some of it, but I just don’t think they look good either.

Love the new layout but it would be great if you Could go back to the current account by clicking on the card behind the pot card if you know what i mean? Also be great to rearrange the order of the pots. Keep up the good work

I used the old new layout for a while before switching back to the original one. Just switched to the new new layout via the Labs today and I have a few critiques about it.

  • There is a lot of wasted white space at the top where the balance and account number is. I miss the ‘spent today’ amount and so would love to see it be moved up there.

  • I also don’t really like the font used for the balance but that’s just me.

  • I liked the budget bar, I never used the budget summary until they added the bar and found it really useful, so being able to add it back or toggle it on or off would be nice.

  • I’d like to see the drag to refresh or a refresh button somewhere. Having to exit the app to update the feed is annoying.

I’m currently undecided about the swipe to view pots thing but I think it will grow on me.

Honestly though, the OG layout minus the spending graph and with the budget bar added would be prefect for me. Maybe we could get some form of customization or mix and match features of all the the layouts to suit everyone.

I give a +1 to a dark mode though. Much easier on the eyes in low light.

Exactly that. I’ve corrected the unfortunate typos in my message.

Just enabled the new look in labs. On the whole I like it, I’ll need some relearning to get back to speed but I cam see it being really useful going forward. But (there’s always a but isn’t there?) where (or please can I again) be able to see my true account balance (that is to say spendable + what’s in pots) as well as just what’s spendable). Perhaps the balance line is like:
£a (plus £b in pots makes £c)

Or perhaps for the account in the view all screen, use two lines:
£a
plus £b in pots makes £c

Sounds like this (and more :eyes:) will be making its way back into the new navigation

I miss this sum too :see_no_evil: as a temporary workaround, you can generate a statement at the bottom of the Summary page to see your full balance :ok_hand:

Here’s my feedback on the new navigation design (I’m using 2.54.0).

  • I like the concept of the photo album style navigation that you’ve been experimenting with but it doesn’t really feel intuitive at the moment. For example, when I view all my accounts I don’t find it intuitive how to get back to the previous screen - I was searching for a close button in the top right of the screen. It also feel like you should be able to quickly swipe past all the pots and go to credit cards quickly (swipe through the top layer independently).
  • When you view a pot, the pot name is displayed above and below the balance. I’m not sure if this is a bug? It seems a ridiculous duplication. I would really like the goal tracker to be displayed somewhere on that screen rather than only when you view all the accounts.
  • I’m not a fan of the new way balances are displayed. I don’t understand why the currency symbol and pennies is smaller font.
  • I really dislike the way summary is hidden and there’s no bar or colour on the main feed. I’ve seen some screenshots of it improved but I haven’t got that update yet.

I hope that helps.

Hey, first post on here but long time lurker since I joined Monzo in April this year. I’ve got to say I do like the new app design but it needs a few improvements: I’m using version 2.53.0 on iOS 12.3.1

  1. Spent today. I believe this was mentioned earlier as coming soon, but this is an essential feature for budgeting and I have no idea why it’s not included at this time. I love this feature, I hope it comes back soon.

  2. Dark mode by September 2019, I understand there’s a lot of testing and time required for software. However with Apple releasing iOS 13 in September and most apps having this feature as well as third party apps I would hope Monzo releases this for September. Again I know it’s been mentioned as coming soon.

  3. When accessing pots on the home tab, on iOS to be able to tap on the pot and see transactions in and out of that particular pot from the home tab. I believe this may already be available on Android? In order to see transactions at the moment, you have to go to the left to spend, scroll to the bottom and access the pots from there.

That’s all I can think of for now. So far I’m loving Monzo, it’s really helping me budget and I applaud the work they are doing. I think the openness and transparency of asking users for feedback and regular updates is great, keep up the good work and improving on what users want!

am loving the new design after turning it on in Monzo labs its nice fresh and clean design! :grinning:

just a suggestion to have a dark mode especially with dark mode coming in iOS 13 (am itching to install the beta on my iPhone lol)

One thing I’ve noticed is on the create pots screen the font seems to be times new roman or something like that. This could be an iOS 13 bug rather than a new UI one (as I don’t think this page has changed in the new UI) but I thought I’d raise it here just in case.

That font is gross! Reminds me of School. Times New or your work doesn’t get marked.

I have one major gripe with the new design, and that is how flimsy the new drop-down part of the Home screen is. It just feels very imprecise, like I could accidentally swipe the whole thing away when I just want to scroll down.

Could be worse. Could be Comic Sans
