You need to look at dark mode for mobile, it’s way out an all is the logo on the main page
When can we expect the updated icon to make its way into the app?
Love the rebranding. The website section headings are sooooooo Fortnite-Font™
But pleeez reduce the width of the logo .png file used for the discourse branding. Here’s one you can use (120 x 120 px):
EDIT: Just realised (thanks to an unrefreshed forum tab) that it wasn’t just the logo that formed the top-left logo image, it also included the word ‘monzo’ as part of the image. So here are the 2 identically-sized versions using the new ‘M’ logo with the word ‘monzo’ needed for both light & dark themes:
Apparently the M logo and the Monzo wordmarque are no longer used together.
If that’s the case, here’s a correctly-sized new ‘M’ logo, based on the sizing of the old ‘M + monzo’ logo:
Is the background navy the right shade?
(I think we’re gonna need a full copy of the brand guidelines).
It’s a PNG file with a transparent background (only ‘M’ logo shows)
But a background may show dependent on what app/browser you view it with.
(I’m in agreement though - future mock-ups require those brand guidelines sharpish)
Ah I meant the blue banner that the transparent PNG sits on top of. I think that’s specifiable in Discourse.
Actually, here’s a whole plan of action:
- Change the navy blue banner to match whatever the current brand colour is.
- Change the four trust levels to match the shards of the Monzo logo.
- If possible, change the category colours to the colours of the Monzo shards, the sub categories to the extra brand colours.
- Introduce :monzo2022: so we can use the new logo on here.
- Explain why we’re using the logotype on the forum and the wordmark on the main website to my satisfaction
Jobs a good’un and my invoice will be in the post.
If using ‘Dark Theme’ on the forum, the header is black.
Good to see the logo has now been left-aligned at the top-left on the main page and stats page(s) - (individual posts show the logo to be ‘off’ still)
But when looking at the main community page and the forum stats, the loss of ‘monzo’ at the top left looks weird. Maybe I’ll get used to it!
I personally like the changes you’ve made and think they help Monzo feel a lot more modern.
My only slight concern is going a bit overboard with colour and imagary in marketing. I personally find this sort of branding quite off putting and makes it different to focus on the actual message you are trying to get acrosss. Looking at the website and play store photos, it is just a bit too much for me.
Mostly, I like these changes.
I agree that I’m not yet sold on the new green colour in the logo.
I’m also not sold on the new bold type faces. Is it meant to look like this on iPad?
It looks too bold to my eye
There are hints that the new style will filter through to the app design, and I’m looking forward to that!
Something has gone screwy there. It looks naff on my iPad too - but fine on my desktop.
Love it, love the recolouring, the new fonts and the UI stuff, be great to see some this appear in the app in the coming months
I do kinda agree with some of the comments on twitter questioning why you’ve released the visual brand update without doing anything to the app. It will just make the app seem outdated in comparison.
Does the branding still look misaligned to you now @davidwalton?
I passed this on to the team this morning and they’re on the case
Should hopefully be updated shortly - thanks for highlighting!
It’s fixed!
It’s perfectly aligned now - you nailed it
My OCD has gone on holiday.
Whatever it’s supposed to be on the left in that second image, it looks like some obscene graffiti I’ve seen around town.
So much so, I can’t unsee it now
