We’re Testing Something New for Bills & Subscriptions 📆 [Now in Labs!]

The feedback form doesn’t let you add screenshots so isn’t much use if you are trying to point out a UI glitch or similar

I only have two payments and it shows for me. I did have an odd glitch after enabling it in Labs as the View Calendar option didn’t do anything so I had to force quit the app. I also have one payment that doesn’t actually show in the calendar.

There was an iOS app update today as well just in case.

I’m not sure this is going to be a huge amount of use to me at the moment as all of my bills come out on the 1st, and my recurring payments all come from my AMEX.

That said, I do think there needs to be a bit more intelligence in the logic. If I skip forward a few months I can see direct debits predicted to go out on a Saturday which just isn’t possible.

Surely with enough previous payments you can work out that a payment usually goes out on day x of the month and when that might be day x+1, x+2 or x+3 because of a weekend or public holiday?

It’s great that Labs is being untilised again. I don’t remember a new feature being added to Labs for quite some time.

However, I have turned it on, force closed my app, and even cleared my cache, and I don’t see the calendar option in Scheduled payments. Unlike Carlo, I have several subscriptions, direct debits and standing orders.

Are there any plans to integrate (or “handle more betterly”) recurring payments with variable amounts (e.g. a monthly credit card bill that is paid in full by direct debit) along the lines of a previous Feedback & Idea suggestion in this community (dating from 2018 entitled “Variable Scheduled Payments”)?

Problem is, until a couple of days before they have no idea what it will be so what else can they show apart from the last payment amount?

For connected accounts, Monzo should have the data to be able to do a pretty good approximation, I think.

Don’t use connected accounts, would they have enough information to know that the direct debit relates to the connected account?

Yes that’s true but doing that would be better than doing nothing in my view.

Good point.

Given the connected and AI enabled world that we live in today, I’d like to think that they would be able to do this (but then again, with my 30-odd years in IT hat on, not being able to do so wouldn’t surprise me either! :joy:)

Hiya @BurnyCubbers77

It should be all sorted now. You’ll just need to restart your app again to be able to see the calendar :+1:

Still not working for me?

I’ve opted out and back in, restarted the app, restarted my phone, but still no change?

Yeah, it’s there now. Thank you so much. I’ll have a tinker and pass on any feedback here and via the app.

First impressions is that it’s nice to see. I do wish I could have a combined view of both Personal and Joint though.

I think a combined JA/PA view would be helpful.

I also have 3 direct debits with the same provider (Moneybox) taken weekly but the app only ever shows one as upcoming. This skews the data in Trends as it’s not a true reflection of outgoings. It would be great if this could be addressed.

I have enabled it in Labs, but it doesn’t seem to open anything

On Android anyway (Oppo Find x9 pro). I’ll try my iOS device

Update: Works on iOS
