Is there actually any cost to the bank if I go to an ATM and try to take money I don’t have out?
30p for ATM decline or insufficient funds?!?!?!
I think these fees are only for the Viola Card and not the Viola Black product, as these fees are nowhere to be seen on the Black website. There appears to be a £4 a month fee, which will most likely replace these individual fees, else it’d be £4 + all these various fees which will not look attractive at all.
They are here - It’s not pretty…
Ouch!
I can see a lot of trust pilot reviews coming Violas way ,
- “you’ve frozen my funds and my children are starving”
Those fees are a disgrace
£3 ATM charge
It’s like stepping back to 2016…
I wonder what their market research team looks like…
Surprised the advert doesn’t say “Move over Mondo…”
I’m also very confused by the argument on their main page that they don’t need an FSCS scheme
As I recall, we specifically included the FSCS branding on our adverts because the research showed that it greatly reassured customers that we were, for a lack of better phrasing, “a proper company” and not just a random app that isn’t properly regulated and safe etc.
I think it’s fine for spending cards and e-money services to not have it, but to get people to use you as their main account, it’s a huge benefit to have it.
I would totally agree, the first thing when I read that statement I was like " hmmm, is this actually a real company". Yeah, it mitigates people’s risk and worry.
The app on the advert has a very similar looking layout to Monzo compared to what’s on their actual website
Would be interesting if there’s any bump from people who search ‘Viola Black’, can’t find it, and decide to check out that ‘Monzo’ thing instead.
A DuckDuckGo search for Viola Black links to PornHub, a book on Amazon and Osprey London; zero mentions of anything bank related.
What a poor advertisement when you can’t easily look up the product.
This thread is now the second result on a more targeted search
I was going to suggest it would potentially be an option for kids - But GoHenry is cheaper, with less fees (and I’m not sure if Viola would do a kids account anyway).
But yeah, it seems to have missed the market somewhat…
Their advertising campaign seems majorly flawed IMO in that they’re launching with the catch phrase
Move over Monzo
when they barely have any of the features of any of their competitors - i.e. Monzo, Starling, Revolut etc - e.g. merchant details, Apple Pay/Google pay (at least from what we can see). all the while charging £4 a month in fees.
They seem to have very little detail on their site, though they may add more after launch. Really just questioning who thought it was wise to market this as a ‘competitor’ - their Marketing department really needs a sanity check IMO
Can we be really sure that this is not an Apprentice challenge? About their level
