Vertical Card Discussion (All Banks) šŸ’³

Is it though? What happens if your chequebook is stolen, and you don’t notice it until money leaves your account? Also, most banks charge for stopping cheques, unlike replacing debit cards, which is free.

Interesting they now have a new BIN for business cards, will this not cause acceptance issues?
And is this really the only way to tell what card it is?

I can’t imagine so because the BIN on both my personal and joint Monzo cards is the same, yet Apple Pay displays two different card images for the two.

I wonder how they’ll show the design in mobile wallets, as they aren’t really geared up for a vertical card.

Thoughts? I think it was a bit creepy. I wouldn’t have really understood what it was getting at if I didn’t know what starling was.

New cards look nice - well done to them!

They’d look even better in Hot Coral with the logo flipped ;)… That way every shop would see logo* as you put it in the card reader ha ha

I do really really like design though !

Just to add some feedback if Monzo are watching this (because I do like the portrait card)…

I would have had the name of the bank the other way around.

I have a vertical wallet, and I have the chip at the bottom of the wallet (so it doesn’t get damaged).

It’s not a biggie, but it would be upside down if I had the Starling card in there.

I’m guessing the Starling team looked more at when you pay for something, than having it in the wallet.

That’s one shiny card :star_struck:
How did you get them so quick?

Ah that’s why starling CS improves in the evenings :smirk:

Hahaha, you’re too kind @glasgow :grinning:

Actually their designer posted them on Twitter, I’m not sure if the public has them yet.

It ended up playing three times, each slightly different but the same…

Meh… I suppose it beats horses running through random places with a popular tune played slowly on a piano…

As long as it doesn’t replace ā€œheard it from the snack lineā€ before the film

These look sick.

You see them with no embossed numbers or any of the other crap, like expiry date and sort code, and they look like mock–ups. Then you realise that’s what your own debit card will look like.

The only thing I’m not quite sure about, is that whilst the front is portrait, the back appears to be horizontal. That may be slightly annoying to some folks.

I think the front of the card looks cool!

But the back of the card just looks like it’s actually the front, with the mag and signature strip moved there.

So what you’re saying is they’ve actually rotated the back 90 degrees :exploding_head:

If the back was also portrait do you think there would be complaints about the numbers being too small or a name not fitting due to the mag stripe ?

Any example of others that do the back portrait ?
