Next year, I will be travelling around South America and have been trying to find what the best form of payment / cash withdrawal in each of the six countries I am visiting. Does Monzo work worldwide and can you provide info on way to get best FX rates etc? Thank you.
Monzo is your best option, thereās no fees (even hidden fees, like the oneās your āno commissionā services charge) for conversion of currencies or using ATMs. Foreign ATMs may charge you for withdrawing money, of course but thatās not a Monzo charge.
You check the MasterCard exchange rate here.
Take a look at this blog post for more tips

You could also try creating a āMonzo in country nameā topic, to ask for advice about using Monzo in the countries youāll visit, from other Monzo users. Let us know how you got on when you get back
The existing travel topics are listed here -
Itās definitely the best option with regards to exchange rates and international transaction fees.
Could you list the countries that youāre intending to visit?
Countries visiting are:
Colombia
Bolivia
Peru
Panama
Argentina
Ecuador
Ok here are your topics
(if advice for several countries had been posted in the same comment, it could have been missed by users, once this thread was split into dedicated posts for each country )
Thanks Alex for doing this!
Not all heros where capes
are there any European countries that are not monzo friendly? thanks
Since thatās quite a broad question to answer, my advice would be to check the dedicated posts for each country before you travel to them, for detailed & up to date tips.
