Trends - a big update to the Monzo experience

I am a bit saddened that they won’t take the handful of people’s names who are asking on the thread, eager to test, and just enable them. Not exactly a lot of work. Or just chuck it open in labs; I can’t imagine that so many people will dig it out from there.

Fix is up :crossed_fingers:t2:

It might be that they’re testing this with a specific subset of customers, with characteristics that we don’t have.

(But I’m anxious to test it too, and would love to be part of the next batch :grimacing: )

I like the idea, but all my accounts except my joint account being enabled by default caught me out

It was easy enough to add it, but might have been better to ask me explicitly

One thought, how is peoples salary categorised under this new setup?? Under summary I just cannot get my wages to actually show as wages so really hoping that this will work properly. I get paid weekly from Amazon and looked at an overdraft the other day and Monzo say they cannot see any salary income for me whatsoever yet it goes in every single Friday.

Ah! It’s probably sad that I did a little happy dance when I saw I had it.
Maybe I’m missing the point here, but I’d find it much more useful if budgets were included also.
Also I’m begging for Virgin credit cards to be added at this point  seeing that spending with my Monzo in this way would be amazing!

I’m in!!!

Edit:
Okay so, this was something I was wondering about.

Up until now, when I’ve paid off a credit card bill, I have then split the payment from Monzo into multiple categories and very neatly categorised - even when I have to endure the agony that is splitting a transaction across 5-10 categories and it keeps recalculating the various amounts you have already put in.

Now with trends, all of these neatly categorised and meticulously split transactions have just been mushed into transfers.

I get the point of auto-categorising things and if trends is going to be more useful going forward, then I’m sure I’ll move to actually categorising each of the individual transactions on my connected accounts.

But destroying the categorisation and splitting on previous transactions is a bit annoying - and I feel that the logic for auto-categorising could perhaps have avoided transactions already split and clearly deliberately categorised.

Second edit:
This again brings up the importance of making connected account transactions full transactions.

If I’m being nudged into properly categorising those transactions, they need notes too. Otherwise it’s still better to categorise the paying off my card transaction if I want to add a note or a tag (which ofc brings us onto more categories but that is not the main point here).

I had moved mine to a custom Salary category and it seems to have remembered each month

Now I see that each of them, both historic and recent, has been moved to across to a new Income category

Not sure I expected that to happen, but should help with this Trends page’s mechanics

Gonna stop editing my above post.

Now clicking (what I guess we’re gonna call) the trends icon at the top right of the screen on a connected account feed brings you to the trends tab with just that account selected - kinda cool. Makes sense future-wise I suppose based on summary eventually disappearing.

Couple more initial thoughts - and I know it’s been said that Trends will eventually meet all the needs we get from Summary, but hey.

Transactions need parity - I mentioned tags and notes above. I need to be able to exclude connected account transactions in trends. I have an enormous refund showing from last month which is showing me as massively up…because the transaction that was refunded was at end of July. So that makes trends useless for me this month.

Speaking of months, def need this to be pay day to pay day asap, or there won’t be much reason for me to look at it.

Folks who’ve recently got in - do you have Plus/Premium and did you have to enable it through Labs?

For me - Premium and just dropped onto the app no need to go through labs.
