Retiring the Summary feature

Hello hello!

It’s Charlotte from the Current Account squad here at Monzo to let you know that we’re retiring the Summary feature and this change will be effective from 21st December 2025.

Since March 2023, new customers have not had access to Summary and very few Monzo customers use Summary to track their spend today. The vast majority now use Trends which offers a more accurate and insightful view of your budget and spending.

While Trends is Summary 2.0, unfortunately there are some gaps. For now, those who use Summary and set weekly and 4-weekly spend periods or exclude individual transactions won’t be able to do this in Trends (categories can be excluded). That said, we’re already busy making upgrades to Trends - to make it work even better for everyone.

To find out more about the differences, check out more here.

We look forward to hearing your feedback on Trends!

I loved summary. I find trends difficult to use and understand, overcomplicated, and basically never use it to try to set or monitor budgets.

Will weekly and 4 weekly ever be implemented? As many folk ask for it here.

Looking forward to it :+1:

Summary’s left to spend was the number 1 thing that helped me to get my finances on track and make sure I was spending within my limits. It was a great feature but I get that it has been outgrown by improvements such as connected accounts.

At first I struggled with trends as it took a while to get the right setup to make sure my “left to spend” and “total upcoming” figures were right. Once setup right, trends gives a much richer picture.

Id love to see some AI embedded into trends to help provide further insights into spending habits and patterns.

Just set up trends and you can set it in spotlight to show you similar:

No oooooo

Summary is very useful.

I’ve always struggled with trends, while I’m sure it’s fine for some, I could never get it to work and present information in a useful and meaningful way.

I’m really disappointed :frowning:

While it’s likely the right reason, I will miss summary and the simplicity of that era of the app.

Sad. It would be useful to have an easy toggle profiles on Trends that would switch to auto selected views, without having to select/deselect the specific accounts every time.

This has been, in tech-world-terms, one of the longest sunset/retirements I’ve experienced.

AI companies have been formed, sacked their board, re-employed their board, claimed non-profit operation then pivoted to for-profit operation, launched countless iterative LLM’s, squared up to th’Elon and raised unreal levels of funding/capital to align themselves for a trillion Dollar IPO in the time its taken for Summary to actually go away.

Fair summary :drum:

A real shame. Such a lovely simple interface – everything I need at a quick glance. I’ve tried multiple times to get into trends but its just a mess.

Please do not retire summary! This is the main reason I use Monzo vs another bank. I do not find the trends page helpful or useful at all

I forgot it existed, to be honest, and it’s always the hardest to retire features, but sometimes they need to go for cause the numbers don’t add up.

As long as Trends improves, I suspect we’ll all be happy in the end

Like others here, I have found the Trends page very difficult to use. I also track my personal account, and that of my 3rd party joint account via these. How would i have two separate view for this?

You’d need to toggle the accounts within the Trends section of the app to get different overviews.

I stopped using monzo when this feature got hidden but it’s a shame to hear that it’s going in the bin forever

Like many in this thread, I found trends hard work because I had to keep telling it what was normal spending vs what needed excluding from my budget.

its shame as trends isn’t useful to me as I get paid every 4 weeks but trends is very rigid set to once a month!! so when I look at my bill pot it keeps telling I’ve not got enough money in it when I do its annoying!

Makes sense to finally sunset this feature. Onwards and upwards with Trends :flexed_biceps:

Sorry but disagree, trends is over complicated. It serves a purpose but so did the summary.

I just want a nice simple view of what I’ve spent and whether I’m over spending. With trends I have to remove my other accounts, look at different views etc.

I really miss the simplicity of the earlier versions of the app.
