Transfer DDs from another account

I still have a NatWest “Reward” a/c with a dozen or so Direct Debits etc. At the moment I transfer cash manually every month from Monzo to ensure there is enough in the account to pay the bills…

I want to junk that setup and transfer everything to Monzo - is there a way to move all the DDs automatically?

Use the current account switching service, it will close your NatWest account.

On the Home Screen, tap the 3 dots on your account and then “Switch to Monzo”.

It’ll transfer all direct debits, payees, standing orders and balance.

If you have any card payments setup like Netflix etc, you’ll need to update those manually with your Monzo card details.

I actually did this manually a few weeks ago. We had a joint account and they wanted my wife’s debit card number, but it was really my account and she can access it in emergencies so she didn’t actually have it as she never uses it ; we keep separate finances but basically share it all :slight_smile: So we have separate Monzo accounts and a joint one.

Anyway, ramble over. If found it fairly easy ; they main problems were the public sector ones (DVLA and Council Tax) who were absolutely bl**dy useless. Everyone else I could either

  1. Do it online directly
  2. Talk to a customer representative who would do it for me.
  3. A couple I had to ring back the next day (smaller companies, but they did it fine)

It’s actually quite a good exercise because you can check who has access to your a/c at the same time.

Thanks Paul. But actually I took Carlo’s advice. I had previously switched banks to Monzo from NatWest but left one account from which I pay all my DDs. Having already switched once I assumed I would not be able to do this again, but I followed Carlo’s advice and it seems to be going through automatically with no need to contact the various companies…

You can switch in as many times as you like, i think with monzo you have to wait for the first to complete before going in for another.
